Welcome Quillsky! I think the sad fact is that they are waiting for that which was promised them. Everlasting life in a paradise of love with no sickness, hatred, war or death. I know the JWs in my family are waiting for this. Most of them are unaware of the history of the organization and are stuck in the cycle of fear of displeasing a God they can't prove exists while hoping for everlasting life ('keep your eyes on the prize') in an Earthly paradise. To present them with facts about the WTS threatens those promises and so they live in denial.
What I know is that waiting on Jehovah gets nothing done. And days tick by....
