Ive mentioned on here that I am fading and that I have been missing a ton of meetings lately. (No, I havent been MISSING them)

I go on the occasional Sunday with my wife and sit like a bump on a log. Still, I occasionally get asked to do "privileges".

Ive blown off the last couple of talks I was assigned, so I assumed they werent giving me anymore....that was my first mistake!

Well, I got a call a while ago "Hey lepermessiah, do you realize you have a talk tonight?"

I said "No, I didnt - and I will not be there to give it, so you need to find someone else"

(Which reminds me - I need to tell them to take me out of the Theocrap-tic Ministry SKOOL)

He said "Oh boy, thats not good....I guess Ill need to find someone to do the talk, are you sick?"

I said "Im really sorry - but I dont have time to chat, talk to you later, gotta run" which was a cop-out I think..........

    What should I have said?

Damn right, I'm sick! I'm sick to damn death of this whole f'g religion. And on top of that, I'm sick of you bugging the shit out of me to give someone else's goddamn talk!

    Feel free to use that...

"I'm not in the right frame of mind to give talks at the moment. I'd rather come off the school than be unreliable for the moment".

"I hate to let you down anymore, but I would like to take a break from the TMS for awhile. I'll let you know when I feel I can do talks again"

Followed by the, "Can I help?" and then you can say, "Thanks, but no. I just need time away from the pressure of the school"

If he persists, then you can politely tell him to go 'jerk off buddy', or something to that effect.

When I read "comeback," I think of a zinger, a burn, an unexpected hurtful saying or sarcastic remark.

Comebacks like that are counterproductive to a fade, but are great for oneself. I would stick with what Mickey Mouse said above.

If you need to zing someone, don't do it too well: "Did you actually speak with me or make sure I got the talk slip?"

I think you did well with your

I said "Im really sorry - but I dont have time to chat, talk to you later, gotta run"

reply... if you said anything else - he would've just kept on chatting... trying to get you to commit to something or other.

About the only other thing you may have been able to say would've been something like...

"I didn't realize I had a talk to give. Calling the night of the talk - to remind me isn't very nice. I've been meaning to get off the 'TMS' - please delete me at this time. Thanks.

    ....

or something like that - which would've had him chatting even more - trying to set up 'encouraging visits' etc. So - you did well.

    Regards,

    • I've just had my bikini waxed!, you dont want me stopping to scratch during my talk do you?
