NATHAN NATAS- Good point you make. Exactly. The WT society certainly has no authority and it was based on 1914 and the years surrounding it that they pushed forth this theory. I'm glad you made out by cashing out money in Rand-Cam . Thanks for the link.

THETRUEONE- Good thoughts. It's so true that the WT socxiety has been very disingenuous in promising life eternal to people - when it's NOT in their power to give it. Keeping rank and file members captivated under fear and guilt to keep serving the WT society's own purposes. It's evil and immoral actually. And you're right- most rank and file witnesses know NOTHING about the history of the organization at all. I hope many break free as time goes on

    Flipper,

The WT strangles itself with its own chronology. They are thoroughly backed into a corner and all they can do is repeat the same, tired, worn out mantra, "the end is near."

It is one thing for a man to make an " ass " out of himself because of wanting to see something happen. It is quite another thing for him to urge others to share his views, to criticize them if they do not, even to question their faith or impugn their motives if they do not see the matter as he sees it. "

Yes, this is certainly the point. The day before they changed the "generation" belief in 1995. all witnesses were believing that the ones who were alive in 1914 would "not pass away until the big A", then the next day, had to believe that the generation was those who "were the contemporaries" and though it was complete gobbledy-gook that no one could explain, could not question. Then, of course, came the day they changed it again, to the annointed. No one would dare say they didn't immediately believe the "new light."

TRUTHSEEKER- Very true. The WT society is backing itself up into a corner with all their forever changing dates and false predictions. They have to keep beating the drum that " the end is near " to keep current witnesses connected and interested. It's definitely a ploy from the WT society.

QUANDRY- Isn't it amazing that the WT society just expects every JW to " adapt " to the alleged " new light " like the " old light " never meant a thing ? It's like they expect these people to trust them on blind faith in spite of all their failed predictions. It's just another technique to keep the rank and file under control

    Like..

"The Generation of 1914 will not pass away"..

    JW`s don`t believe that anymore..

    They have a New Belief..

If they don`t support the new belief..

They won`t be a JW much longer..

Beliefs come and go in Watchtower World..

    Obedience to the WBT$..

    Is Forever..

OUTLAW- Witnesses are definitely a cult, indeed. Beliefs do come and go in the WT society. Just like " generations " come and go ! LOL!

AGONUS- Exactly . If a person doesn't believe the WT society's way- it's the highway ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

A meetup group near here is planning the 35-year anniversary of the 1975 fiasco.

    I can hear the talk:

You were never going to be born if you are under 35. You were never going to grow up if you were a child. You would never need that college education if you thought about it in the 60's and 70's, nor would you need your retirement. Sell the house and ignore those health problems. 1975 is almost here, just stay alive 'til '75.
