Do you really need to ask? Have you taken a close look lately?

I find it curious that this thread violates most of Buddhist' ideas all within three pages.

    Calm. Peace. Relax.

When the oxygen and species full rainforest's are disappearing, when life sustaining lakes and rivers are drying out, when pollution is out of control, yes I'd say the planet needs 'healing'. To answer your question johndoe........wf

I don't buy it. This planet is pretty danged good, and is not in need of healing. I find it arrogant to say otherwise.

I find it ignorant to think otherwise.........wf

Plants are a renewable resource. And pollution will slow down a great deal when we run out of oil, so that problem will be solved one way or another. Should we take care of our home? Sure. Is it counter-productive to destroy forests without replanting? Absolutely. But environmental extremism is dangerous, as well. Balance is the key. Balance.

While i agree w carlin on most of that, he does underestimate the survivability of humans. I mean, we're all over this planet, from the inuit on the north pole, to the tribes in the steamy tropical jungles. We are very ingenious in finding ways to survive. I think that we are on this planet to stay, and will likely spread to other planets, as well. Sorry george.

As well, scientists have continuously been pushing back the date of our origins and the dates at which we developed various technology. I have seen this going on for decades. It wouldn't surprise me that we have been on this planet for a much longer time than what they currently believe. Farming and cities are relatively new developments. But, as hunter gatherer scavengers, i believe that we may have been at that level for a long time.
