For me, fighting the Watchtower is a higher level of therapy. Since I've been out for 21 years, I went to counseling, obtained a college degree, found new social circles, and started a family of my own, since my jw family rejected me. These were all steps in the recovery process. Now that I'm on solid ground, I can help others with exitng the cult. When I see the problems and potential of myself reflected in other people's lives, I get as much out of it as the person I am helping does, maybe more.
Fighting the Cult of the Watchtower Good or Bad? Does it Give Your Life Some Meaning?

FRANKIESPEAKIN- My thoughts are very similar to what Dissed said. I too have no illusions of bringing down the WT society and JW cult, however I feel we can each do our own little part in assisting exiting witnesses to think free and clear again by helping them understand WHAT they have just gone through. Many exiting JW's don't understand WHAT they are going through - they just know it doesn't feel good being shunned and cast out into oblivion . They need to understand that there is more to life- than oblivion / or what they had in the witnesses.
So many exiting JW's have the black & white mentality that it's either this OR that , I'm either an evil apostate or a JW ! They were conditioned to have the all or nothing mentality from the mind control tactics of the WT society. So if we can assist them to see there are lots of opportunities post-witness life and shades of color out in the REAL world then some of these people can continue life quite successfully while opening their minds up to possibilities ! So, personally that's what I want to help accomplish is bringing people out of their shell and see what REAL life is after the witnesses. It can be good, doesn't HAVE to be negative

flipper: "I feel we can each do our own little part"
Thanks to the magic of the interweb, we can collectively be a HUGE resource for JWs on the fence, without sacrificing the bulk of what's left of our lives on an anti-Watchtower Crusade.
I'll probably be giving back a little bit here for a long time to come.

I want to thank every one for their comments, I agree with most. Only one semi defeatist attitude alluded to "resistance is futile" which is quite understandable.

I too think about this everyday. And I do think everyone's fight is personal, we now have the freedom to choose what we want to do and how we want to live.
My ongoing feeling is that I have given waaaay too much of my life for all things JW. The idea of doing more so, even though it is antiJW, is something I just can't bring myself to do. Time is too precious and I have less and less of it left.
With that being said I still come to this site many times in the day, I am grateful for the exJW's I have met from here that I now call friends. I hope to meet more and more. If I can be of some assistance to someone, I will most certainly be there in a flash.
For the ones I know in, there are a great many questioning and discussing the things we all talked about 15 years ago, 10 years ago...and the very things we discuss here. But as of this moment, they say they want to "fight from within" and sit and take all the BS. I know the best life we can lead outside the org is one of the best weapons. The other is this website and Randy's.

Many wage an affective war on the WTS by presenting factual data proving that most if not all of the teachings are false. Others present information showing that the results of living a witness life do not produce the intended outcome and still others demonstrate the hypocritical and ever changing polices of the WTS and the damage such bring to individuals.
Posting information on the board for others to read on their own is also an effective tactic.
For the majority of us, I think the real way to battle the WTS is to prove by example that we are living a good life. Leaving the WTS – at least in our experience – makes people think long term about what they want to do with life. It causes many to get involved with the community, to get educated, to reach out and make friends with non-witnesses and realize that there are some really good people in the world. Some are able to overcome personal problems related to living in a oppressive organization. Bottom line, in my opinion former witnesses are better people than they were as witnesses . The shift in thiking from “from god is going to fix everything’’ to “I need to make a difference” is what makes them/us better. Eventually current witnesses see that life as a former witness is the best way of life and may come make the change themselves, even mentally if they are unable to leave completely. This probably the most effective way to wage war and it is the tactic that we have chosen.
It is nice to see folks on this board doing their part. What a multifaceted and effective attack on the WTS.

Most people will only keep holding fast to what they think is real, especially if you try to rench them from their perch...
It is where they feel safe, they are with 7 million others, and they like it that way...
Personally I would talk to those that will listen and then present some little facts for others to think on... I regard witnesses with respect and pity, some are power hungry others are genuine... Our job is to nurture those that come out or need a helping hand... In so doing, try to think what we would have done in our hight of Dubbyness... I sure would never listen to those who saught to destroy my blessed faith...
But i am glad to have stumbled into your site... :)

Meaning? Fighting the WT doesn't give my life meaning. My wife and my son and my wonderful mother and my sister give my life meaning. All my friends that I love so dearly, and all the ones that I may never see again give my life meaning. Every person that I love that's still having their soul crushed by that monstrosity of a religion gives my life meaning. So, am I going to fight it? Your God-Damn right I am. I won't be satisfied until that "religion" is a rotting corpse. Maybe I won't live to see it, maybe I will, who knows. It will be worth it.

So there i am Sittin in the chair listening to a Scheme that is very reminiscent of Bernie Madoff. Well, Last tuesday (2nd of Feb) There was something read to the congregation from the GB that said that all the excess moneys except for 2 months expenses was to be sent in. There was no interest being paid anyways so they would find a better use for it. The excess money would be kept and recorded to the amount from each cong. if you needed it for an extraordinary expense you could have it back. I thought to myself WTF. These guys are doing a ponzy scheme. And every single one of them stuck there hand up and voted to have a long fingered prostate exam.
