Like several here, computer aided design but slanted toward Manufacturing Tool Design. From 1963 thru 1986 it was entirely at the mercy of the manual drawing board -- remember triangles, drafting machines, hand printing in all uppercase, orthographic projection views? I cut my teeth on AutoCAD 2.18 and currently own a llicense to 2005. The last few years, prior to retirement 7 years ago, I moved muchy of my work to Pro-Engineer, the solid modeler.
In using AutoCAD I did much application development using their built-in AutoLISP programming language (similar to C++). Here's one of my apps (I call it MyGEARilla ) that is free for personal use if you are interested in designing your own spur gears. It's the best out there. Of course, I'm prejudiced.

I teach at a university. Today I had a big conundrum because I got laryngitis over the weekend and lost my voice; it was really hard to get through my lecture today, as it was on Friday. I'm hoping I can talk okay by next class on Wednesday.
