Nothing changes. If it does, it just gets worse.

There were some elders that believed the Organization might change for the better. These "reformers" tried but were outgunned by the majority. Any hope of reform has died.

Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt which hides the scars.

Yes - and to be truthful I have seen it happen . About 20 years ago there were about 5 elders appointed in two years - it did start changing things slowly. I noticed less rigidity -newer brothers being allowed to take the Memorial - a more balnced approach to Depression etc.

Usually, it meant more hounding. Every time a new hounder comes on board, that means that many more hounders to share the work load. And, that in turn meant more work for me to try and waste their time and energy--nothing ever changed, since the lead hounder and the hounder-hounder are the ones that really run things. And, the hounder-hounder has a hounder of his own to hound him--and the hounder-hounder-hounder in turn has a hounder he has to answer to.

Only Raymond Franz made any real difference. He did get the oral sex ban softened up some in early 1978, and he was working toward using the Bible more. He was right up in the top. Yet, his influence was reduced by the others making up the Gibbering Buddy, and they ended up getting rid of him before he could bring the religion into Biblical compliance. He wanted a religion where, if it isn't in the Bible, it isn't in the Washtowel or Kingdumb Misery either. And, he was put out of the religion despite his prominence.

As I see it, if Raymond Franz could do little real good, no mere hounder could, either.
