Actually, I shouldn't say the above just yet, since in truth I haven't read the entire thing either.

The one in Palo Alto was reported to have happened right after takeoff in fog. Someone speculated on an engine failure, but my guess was pilot error due to the weather. Cessna 310 (which is a twin) IIRC.

This one looks like a crazy-train suicide by aircraft. All the eye-witnesses say it was done under control, deliberately.

JWoods....I actually left the house yesterday at almost the exact moment of the plane crash. I thought I'd go to work early because I wasn't going to finish my work at home (I had been up since 2:30am grading papers) and so I left at about 7:50am, and the crash occurred about five minutes later. The fog was THICK. I could barely see a block down from me. But on the news, they brought out that the plane took an abrupt left turn off the runway, which is very unusual, so mechincal error is quite possible. Sad for Tesla Motors. :( :( My boyfriend says that the power went out exactly at 7:56am when the crash happened, so I am glad I didn't stay home as I wouldn't have been able to do my work there.

Ohhh right now on MSNBC they are mentioning the manifesto.
