Nor is it proof that they are a coward.
Surely you are not suggesting that there was something somehow noble about this senseless act?

I am not suggesting that. Nor am I suggesting he was a coward. Why are you taking the extreme view of either/or? There is a lot of space in between both ends of the spectrum.
I view him as a coward because he refused to face his issues like a man, deciding instead to attempt to kill other (completely innocent) people along with himself.
BTW, I view the 9/11 hijackers (and their stay-at-home leadership) as cowards for the same reasons.
No excuse for either one.
Were people killed? The last I read, all were accounted for.
Two were hospitalized, I believe - one with burns? No one killed, fortunately. The damage to the building looks like someone inside could well have been killed had they been in the wrong place.

Whew, that's a relief.
Did they figure out where the one missing person was? All day they have been saying one person has not been accounted for.
This was exactly Joe Stack's point in his diatribe -- that the entire political class is corrupt, and that the lone citizen is helpless -- a soft doll to be kicked around in the bread and circuses of American political culture.
And a lot of this is true. We shouldn't fool ourselves that there is a lot of justifiable anger out there -- I would say Stack's demise is a collective failure of American Society, where citizens stand by helpless as they are robbed and made incapable of asserting their political rights beyond on the confines of the party system.
People should look at themselves -- we have no movement for change to speak of, no positive action to channel one's rage, no hope really for a lot of people who feel hard done by in this period of economic and cultural crisis. Left alone in such a mess, people will go crazy.
Purps, it is nice to feel sorry for others who have problems.
But this guy was crazy, and was an attempted mass killer. That cannot be excused by some perception that the government is wrong about tax law.
For crying out loud, it was this government (which he says he hates) that allowed him to own an airplane!
Was he a Sunni or a Shi'ite?
