I'd be tempted to take my granddaughter to a convention and wander around just to see what happens, but I don't think I can do that to her.
Just an hour intermission on a Saturday or Sunday wouldn't hurt her.

The assumption the announcement makes is that JWs can be trusted. You can identify JWs because they either have a lapel card on or a florescent jacket. Anyone else is a threat

Really. It's no different than the rest of the world. When will they learn that a child is in more danger from the very people they are told they should trust.

I think a trip to Silentlambs is in order. I would be more worried about someone with an embarrassment badge as a pedophile than someone without. Children are more likely to trust someone with an embarrassment badge, and they know who they want to molest. And how--usually a hounding call, or using an "attendant" status to sequester a child so they can molest the child. With more than 25,000 known pedophiles within the witlesses and growing, that is the greater threat.
Additionally, there is a lesser chance of someone buying a special vest from the likes of L.L.Beans and printing up a fake embarrassment badge, pretending to be an attendant, and molesting a child (or kidnapping one). However, the danger is greater with the real witlesses than the fake ones, since the fake ones are less likely to be pedophiles than the real ones.
Besides pedophiles, parents have to worry about the abuse coming from the platform. Death threats, guilt trips about having real music or about taking Friday off last April recess for fun instead of field circus, and bans on just about everything fun are a greater threat. Pedophiles take some children, but the above abuse affects all of them. And there are always the crackdowns, music purges, and pio-sneer drives for summer that come after the a$$emblies. Not to mention spankings (and beatings) because the children will not sit still for 8 hours at a time.
