I'm gonna have to get that book.

Gosh me too. It's come up several times not only in this board but in other places in my life. Time to read it! It's not at the bookstore, you have to order it.

When I read this stuff Flipper, it's so hard to believe that I couldn't see this before! And I still had a hard time thinking I was in a "cult". But it's very, very clear now. Any time there is fear and isolation.......red flags people! Thanks for the info!

VILLABOLO- No problem guy. This thread isn't just for newbies- it's for everybody who wants to comment on this subject, including yourself ! It certainly does sound like the elders on your JC were trying to intimidate you through fear mongering for sure. I'm glad you weren't intimidated. There's nothing to fear . No Armageddon is coming to take us away. As you have probably found we can have a great life outside the JW organization and be very happy . The leaders of the WT society 't want us to be happy- they want us to be controlled.

OUTLAW- Exactly. Some of the contribution boxes were so big a huge HORSE could fit in there. And from what I've heard - the last year or two the WT society has installed ATM and credit card machines at some District Conventions for the convenience of witnesses if they want to donate through those means. WT society is a money grubbing magazine printing mind control cult. Weirdos.

MR. BUMBLE- ( Rose petal's hubby ) Nice hearing from you ! Thanks. Welcome to the board my friend. Very true what you are saying. It IS total submission to the WT society while we were in AND " generalized aggression to all enemies of that organization " . In proof of THAT statement you make all a person has to do is listen to how Jehovah's Witnesses diss or put down the news media when ANYTHING negative comes out about the WT society or Jehovah's Witnesses. They are so paranoid they say " The news media ALWAYS puts us down" or they'll tell their members " Satan controls the news media ! " So the witnesses are " conditioned " to turn away any legitimate negative news about them, even when it's true and factual. Typical ploys of a mind control cult like the WT society.

And your point about the governing body or leaders of the WT society not being humble or self critical is entirely true also. That self important attitude goes all the way down the ladder of command and permeates the attitudes of most elders, circuit overseers and district overseers because they learn it from the top of the organization. Thus you have 6 million JW's being controlled by a minority of power mongering men. Makings of a cult.

HEAVEN- I'm so glad you were not intimidated by your JW mother or the elders in your congregation when you were younger. You saved yourself a lot of grief by never being baptized and having to deal with controlling, authority type power lovers in the WT organization. Good for you. Freedom is sweet , isn't it ?

QUIRKY- Yes, my friend. You owe it to yourself to read Steve Hassan's books. It would help you deal with your situation with a JW mate.

DESIGNS- Very true. The WT society always used fear of Armageddon & Demons. They are experts at promoting fear in members.

AWILDFLOWER- It is very true what you say. Once we have stopped attending meetings for some time - it's much easier to see the absolute cult mind control which was used on JW members , including ourselves at one time. The picture becomes perfectly clear for sure. Because when we are taken away from the mind controlling information spewing out from the platform it frees our mind to think with our " authentic " personality instead of the " cult " personality. Yes, if you are able to purchase Steve Hassan's books - I highly recommend getting them. Both of his books have greatly assisted me in the last 6 years out of the cult to move on and entirely lose my fear and guilt I had when still a JW. I wish you the best in reading them ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

OUTLAW- Yeah, I thought it was pretty insane as well when I first heard of it last summer ! It shows hoe greedy the WT society really is. And the " who can I use " attitude permeates down into the JW members as well. Crazy

one thing i can remember is that the congregation expenses were inflated to encourage greater contributions.especially at the assemblies and conventions.

JEHOVAHSHEEP- Very true. The expenses were inflated to encourage more contributions. Lots of dishonest ploys were pulled to get money out of congregation publishers

not trying to change the subject, but since some talk of contribution, who holds the deeds for

the KH? I ask this question because the year 1985 I was serving in a small town in the mid west.

We built a KH.The loan from the HQ was $25.000. After it was built it was 2-3 times worth more.

Before we consider having a KH built we ask the members how much money can they give each

month , to be sure we could afford the note. That loan is paid off, the members in that small town

have faithfully for years made those payment to HQ. I can not remerber the interest rate the society

charge us but it was low..But for some reason if the KH is disband what happen to the money?

SNOOZY- Exactly true what you say. Why do you think there are so many abusive husbands in the Jehovah's Witnesses ? They learn to be abusive from the putting down of females from the patriarchal views of the WT society.

JAM- I belive the WT society maintains ownership of the Kingdom halls. It's such a big rip-off. Those poor to middle class witnesses helped donate and make all the payments - yet the WT society maintains ownership. Typical WT society theocratic strategy. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
