I thought I'd heard it all after spending a life time in this organization. But for me the following statement uttered at the weekend circuit assembly takes the prize.

During the "pioneer talk"......the speaker said that PIONEERING ENHANCED JESUS's SPIRITUALITY.

To imagine that a made up thing like pioneering would enhance the spirituality of the Christ. To those who still believe in Christ ....this is so presumptious and proposterous........I just fell off my seat.

It tells me how this organization and its governing body have set themselves up so high .....that they could tell the christ how to live.

Haven't been to a CA in years but its not surprising to hear these things being said. Spent part of Sunday with an xjw buddy and we were reminincing on the stuff we were regularly pummeled with, its a wonder we even have all of our marbles today.

Look how the WTS reaches to make the application here having to go to a different bible translation:

*** w89 1/1 p. 14 par. 18 "The Hand of Jehovah Was With Them" ***Today, there are hundreds of thousands of other witnesses of Jehovah who have imbibed the same spirit of missionary zeal. These too are pioneers in the real sense, following in the steps of Jesus, "the Pioneer of their salvation."—Hebrews 2:10; 12:2, Moffatt.

*** w88 5/1 p. 20 par. 17 A People Walking in Jesus’ Footsteps ***Today, they are following in the footsteps of Jesus, serving Jehovah together as regular pioneers.

*** w85 9/15 p. 25 Can You Enlarge Your Territory as a Pioneer? ***Without question, Jesus was the foremost Kingdom proclaimer, a true pioneer in the sacred service of Jehovah.

*** w81 12/15 p. 26 par. 18 Zealous for "the Work of the Lord" ***Some of us may be able to serve as "pioneers," or full-time Kingdom proclaimers, in this work of the Lord Jesus, who is, indeed, the "pioneer" of our faith.—Heb. 12:2, Moffatt; Isa. 6:8-10.

*** w79 9/15 p. 12 Serving a Worthy Cause ***My career was to be pioneering, following in the footsteps of Christ Jesus himself and the apostle Paul.

*** w79 12/15 p. 10 par. 6 "Come After Me, and I Will Make You Fishers of Men" ***After giving these negative examples, Luke strikes a positive note. He describes how Jesus selected 70 of his followers and sent them out two by two to pioneer the territory ahead of him.

*** w78 7/1 p. 19 par. 15 "Ministers of Our God" Pioneer Vital Restoration Work ***By thus fulfilling the Bible prophecies concerning him, Jesus Christ became a pioneer of life and salvation for those who accepted his life-giving ministry. John the Baptizer had gone in advance of Jehovah’s Messiah and had prepared the way, and so John could also be called a pioneer. (Luke 1:76, NewWorldTranslationoftheChristianGreekScriptures, 1950) Jesus, however, did more than John in order to pioneer the way to life and salvation.

*** w78 7/1 p. 19 par. 16 "Ministers of Our God" Pioneer Vital Restoration Work ***It was just as the apostle Peter boldly told the Jews in the temple at Jerusalem some weeks after Jesus’ ascension to heaven: "You killed the pioneer of Life. But God raised him from the dead, as we [Peter and John] can bear witness."—Acts 3:15, Moffatt.

In writing to the remnant of Hebrews (Jews) who accepted Jesus as the Messiah, or Christ, and who became spiritual sons of God, the Hebrew apostle Paul said: "For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the pioneer [arkhegós] of their salvation perfect through suffering."—Heb. 2:10, Revised Standard Version; also Moffatt.

Jesus is thus declared to be a "pioneer" for his disciples, the pioneer of life, the pioneer of salvation, the pioneer of our faith.

*** w78 7/1 p. 24 par. 12 "Ministers of Our God" and Their Assistants Today ***All the members of this spiritual Israel are "priests" by Jehovah’s designation of them. Jesus Christ their Pioneer is Jehovah’s High Priest, under whom the nation of "priests" serve God.

*** w62 12/15 p. 756 par. 37 To Preserve Your Souls Alive, Have Faith ***Because of this fact Jesus is really the Leader, the Pioneer, the Chief Agent of our faith.

*** w55 3/1 p. 137 Is the Full-Time Ministry for You? ***CHRIST Jesus pioneered the full-time service of the Christian ministry.

*** w50 4/1 p. 104 par. 5 More and More Pioneers of Good News ***Jesus Christ was a perfect example of a full-time pioneer minister.

*** w50 10/1 p. 365 Report of Theocracy’s Increase Assembly ***Like the first Christian pioneer Jesus, and like his disciples who followed the same pioneer trail, there are today thousands of faithful pioneers the world over engaged in the same full-time work

Never cease to amaze, how they plaster their ideas back onto Jesus.

So, let's see; pioneering is a regulated, established program of door to door canvassing, with rules and oversight; it is viewed within the congregations of JWs as being the thing to do.

Jesus lifestyle was one of a hippie among his fellow peasants and the greco-roman yuppies; he did not work, he lived off the goodwill of others willing to support a healer and sage.

Jesus flaunted the social and religious conventions of the day; he favored eating with the social outcasts, and touched the unclean thing by 'healing' the leper.

The real Jesus was NOT the WT's friend; he turned the social and religious order upside down.

    Pioneer, lol.

Hard to think of Jesus throwing on the tie, and settling in for a boring afternoon of return visits that are going nowhere.

I can understanding relating the pioneer work to emulating Jesus. What I can't understand would be the need for Jesus to have his spirituality enhanced....You don't get anymore spiritual than he supposedly was.

But a jw would point out from the bible that Jesus learned obedience enhancing it:

    (Hebrews

5:7-9)7 In the days of his flesh [Christ] offered up supplications and also petitions to the One who was able to save him out of death, with strong outcries and tears, and he was favorably heard for his godly fear. 8 Although he was a Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered; 9 and after he had been made perfect he became responsible for everlasting salvation to all those obeying him,

I often wonder how much more effective the governing body feels Jesus ministry could have been if they had been present during Jesus ministry- you know, to guide him....to maybe have helped him explain 'this generation'...etc
