I saw a sad story the other night on assisted suicide. The guy was so miserable he wanted to end it before it got any worse..I think he had MND (Motor neutron disease) .anyway he was on a breathing tube and was slowly losing his ability to move..he would soon be paralized.
He decided to go to Switzerland to do the assisted suicide thing. It was the only place available at the time that could legally do it.
They give you the lethal drink (two) and you go to sleep never to awake again. It does take a while. But his wife was with him. He couldn't cry because he said he wouldn't be able to breath..
When they gave him the stuff to drink he yelled about how awful it tasted, I remember thinking that they could have made it taste a little better..but they did give him apple juice after and played his favorite symphony music while he peacefully died.
They asked questions like "You know if you drink this you will die?" and he answered "yes" before he drank it. They tape recorded the whole thing and showed the whole thing.
He had to do it he said before he became incapacitated and wouldn't be able to do it himself.
I remember thinking "I wonder if I could ever be so miserable that I could do that?"
This is the story that was on TV here a few days ago:
