Before you learned the real truth about "The Truth", did anyone try to help you get out of JWs?

YES! His father is an apostate. His son and I were co-workers in the 80's, when he tried to reason with me, I rejected to talk about his reasonings like the pyramid, etc.... I was VERY programmed by the WT to reject apostate teachings when I was MS in the 80's. Oh well. here I am.

The guy that wrote 30 Years a Watchtower Slave lived in our city, plus Walter Martin had his radio show. Problem was those guys were wack jobs. Why go from one cult mindset into another.....that's worse.

I had one guy write to me, he was a born again Christian that I had a long discussion with about the trinity. This was 1968 and I was 18 years old.
As a born in I was programmed to reject what he wrote by looking up the WT answers to his points, and accepting those without real criticism, and so I did not take on board what he said, or deeply think about it, and rudely did not reply to his letter.
I think it is sad for me that he did not choose to approach matters on a different level, trying to convince me of the Trinity was not a good starting point, but the guy was sincere, and in those days he had no guidance on how to witness to a Witless.
If only !!! My life could have been so different.
The only other things that I came in contact with that might have worked were tracts and books, but they didn't work.
I wasted 58 years on that Cult, if I can help anybody else get out, I will.

No and TBH if they did, I wouldn't have taken any notice. I would love to help someone get out, I am discreetly creating doubts in some people and Nugget did a great job on a someone last week.

Yes, my husband did. He tried to kindly reason with me. He tried to go hard-core with the reasons it was wrong-by starting arguments with me about it. Finally, he just started to plant some seeds of doubt here and there. I resisted all of those attempts. Several years later, I did some research on my own and Damn-what a shocker I got!
Thank goodness I discovered the realities of the WTBS (WatchTowerBullShit). I am grateful my husband was patient with me(mostly) and the blinders I had on.

My husband did in his own way. The problem he had was keeping from bombarding me with everything he had learnt on the board. If there is one piece of advice I would give is that when you are taling to someone keep it short and keep it simple. If somone feels they are being bombarded with false ideas and given no opportunity to argue their case they might turn and run in the opposite direction. Luckily I am stubborn by nature and can switch off when I have had enough. We had some lively debates and hubby now knows when enough is enough, it's lucky he did or he would be DF'd by now.

No. I suspect that only someone who has come into this organization out of an honest, good-faith reason and who left for those same reasons could have provided what was necessary to have relieved me of this rather tedious exercise.
