I’ve heard that at the Stanley Theater there’s a $1 million chandelier. I wonder if the idea of selling *that* to help out a poor cricuit in Central or S. America ever crossed their minds.

Thanks for the transcrption of the tape. A strange thing happened to me as I read it. I could actually HEAR the CO's voice, the intonation, the way the questions were phrased, every word of it.
We used to laugh at Southern Barptist preachers, but the JWs, especially a lot of the COs and DOs, have a manner of speaking that is as fake as it gets. It was just that that eventually drove me away from assemblies forever.
And what a line of tripe!!

Teejay, you think this talk will work? I don't think so. I think most dubs are sick of being asked for more time and more mulah! Even when I was a dub I hated it when they asked for money because I saw all the elderly ones and the elderly PO who was going to work until the day he croaked and it bugged me that they have no retirement and the WTS would never help them. I think lots of witnesses feel this way too. I could be wrong. But I really do think they're sick of being squeezed dry like turnips.
The CO is visiting my area soon. This almost makes me want to go just to hear if his talk will be the same and then to hear any comments later. I can just imagine some who will gush with enthusiasm just as those did when telling me of all the wonderful aid the WTS gave to the 9/11 WTC disaster in NY.
Of course I have to wonder about all those in the 1970's who did give up their retirement funds or sell their homes or other assets after being urged to do so just like this talk. The same type of "encouragement" was given then because "the end was so near and what better way to show your faith in god to sustain you." Has the WTS helped any of those who later in the decade would have no retirement income?
I hope bluesapphire is right in saying that the JWs are "tired of being squeezed dry like turnips".
