Hi ya'll, it's been a while....
Just thought I'd come in and say hello. A lot of new people here but also some oldies. Hope you're all doing fine.
I've recently booked a trip to Hawaii with some friends in May and I'm very excited!!!! It's a very loooong trip since I live in Europe.

Just went to Hawaii this past November, from the states of course, but it was soooooo fun and beautiful. Have a great trip! Wish I were going back right about now!

Newborn - I've got a restaurant tip.
Near the Market Place in Waikiki, is 'Fatty's Chinese' Its a small cafe run by a family. Very traditional and authentically fresh. Most of the patrons are Chinese and they don't speak much English. We found ourselves pointing at dishes people had and ordering. Great prices and outstanding place for lunch.

Actually, Hawaii is in "the states." I was talking to the nurse at the Red Cross and he had plans to go to Hawaii and thought he needed a passport....
It took some time to convince him it was part of the US, "the states" and he did not need a passport.
If you go to Hawaii and tell them you are from "the states" you may get a response or a look from them. Refer to the other 49 states as "the mainland."
I believe Newborn is from Sweden?
