I'm not but I know some JWs that have drifted but when things like 9/11 catastrophes occur, they're right back at the Kingdom Hall.

Do you ever worry that the Great Tribulation might occur and you will die?

No, not even as a jw....I knew God loved me even if jws did not. I worried if my father would kill us. More realistic and immediate.

YES I WAS!!! I lived in horror of it until about 3 years ago when I discovered websites like this. I left the "truth" when I was 18 got disfellowshipped and had nightmares for years. Was destructive in my activities as I had a "live for today because tomorrow I will die" attitude.

I went back into the religion when I was 28 for 7 more horrible years because I thought Armageddon was coming and I wanted to save my babies and myself. I left again because I couldn't stand it but was afraid to listen to new or let my Mom (a fanatic witness) talk to me of the "signs".

If I believed as my mother believed (She was not a JW. She was in the Pentacostal religion). It would mean that a "rapture" would occur; and all those that were "baptized in the blood of Jesus" would be saved; and they would be caught up in the rapture. So, this would mean, that since she baptized me in the blood of Jesus that I would be saved.

I, really, don't know what Armageddon means to the Witnesses. That's strange since I was baptized as one. Does it mean that everyone but the Witnesses will be tortured, and then killed, and then thrown into Gehenna?

I know that my mother's religion believed that evil ones would be tortured, and stung by demon thingies with scorpion-like tails, and people would cry out "rock save me" and the rock would say "don't hide behind me" or something of that nature; and then they have to suffer eternally in hell.

I don't know what to think about Armageddon. I'm agnostic.

This question to me is like asking "Are you afraid to die?". I know that I don't want to be tortured. If I'm going to die, make it quick.

    Did that answer your question?

I don't believe in the JW teachings, otherwise I would still be part of it.

No. I made a conscious decision as a teenager not to buy into any group that fear mongers. Anyone that does this is for their own means is not principled.

I agree that if you leave the mindset of the cult, you shouldn't worry about dying in the Great Trib HOWEVER, logic doesn't always prevail.

Actually the JW concept of Armaggeddon isn't really scary at all. Unlike other religions, there is no HELL.

So what happens when you die? Eternal torture? Nope. Nothing. The dead are conscious of nothing at all. Why would I fear that? Even if everyone else was heartily frolicking in paradise, I wouldn't miss it because... well... I am non-existent.

Yeah Armaggeddon might be scary but if it really got bad, I could always put a bullet to my brain and quickly and humanely end it all. I would have blissful nothingness to look forward to!!

At least other religions have some scary shit that could make unbelievers quake in their pants.....

I was just thinking, the "Rapture" and the "Great Tribulation" doesn't make sense. According to my mother's religion, during the Rapture, Christians will be "caught up" by God or taken to heaven. The evil-doers will be destroyed at the Great Tribulation. Then there will be a 1000 year reign of Christ over the earth? Who is going to be alive on earth if all of the evil-doers are dead and the Christians are in heaven? . . . The ones that didn't get preached to? IDK
