I am sorry for all the stuff you are going through. I wish my extended family had seen what yours has.

    I love what you said:

But it's truly amazing that a 2,000-year-old book can cause this much trouble because somebody decided to go all Da Vinci Code on it back in 1879. I mean, at a certain point, you just have to step back and look at the absurdity of it all. I enjoy the Good Word as much as any Christian, but at some point, a long time ago, people just went off the deep end into extremism with it and took a lot of people along for the ride.

They simply don't seem to get (or care) that they're expecting you to live a lie and keep your mouth shut, all for the glory of making their lives convenient.

Dead on, Mary. They did indeed emphasize the whole 'losing your family' thing--particularly tried employing my new marriage as a weapon. What, with all the "people who care" about me so much, I'm just overwhelmed! Right. It was all about 'the organization', nothing more. And that's tragic. Here I thought that doing the right thing rather than what's convenient was what we were all about!

Try to get back in touch with that very kind, patient, forgiving and sweet man so many of us clearly discern from your previous posts after you give yourself a little more time to grieve, fume, and simmer/stew over the absolute needlessness of the situation.

Good idea. I've always worried he might have died by now. Maybe not. I hope not.

I think that of all the doctrines JWs teach the shunning policy is so hard to justify. It is a madness that people follow without question. I was asked to provide an explanation to the wife of a Df'd person as to why her husband could attend a wedding at a kingdom hall but not the reception. It was a relief not to have to do it. I told her she was seeking a rational explanation for something irrational.

It is funny that people outside the organisation can quickly identify the non christian behaviour and people inside cannot. Talk about letting your light shine.

I've been surprisingly sane, and the longer I'm away from it, the more sane I'm becoming.

Uh hum, I told you so. LOL!

The only people promoting the Watchtower religion are themselves and they do so continually. In all the dozens of Catholic Masses I have attended this past year and a half, I have only once heard The Catholic Church extolled as The True Church. Self promotion is not at all common. (I belong to a local Baptist Church but attend Mass weekly.)

Criticisms agaist The Catholic Church or other mainstream Christian religions are doctrinal and minor. There are few "horror stories" of psycho-emotional abuse in any of the traditional Christian Churches. In the Watchtower abuse is systemic AND an integral part of their doctrines.

I am out after 45 years of eating garbage at the table of the Watchtower. I heard at a convention that some had called the "Table of Jehovah polluted" implying their ideas and issue was taken against. The Watchtower does not even offer "Table of Jehovah" fare.

    Blessings and regards,

    Paul
