Of course they do. This was always one of my biggest issues. We were told that we were supposed to serve God solely out of love, while at the same time having this carrot dangled in front of us. I always found the notion that JWs were motivated by love to be completely disingenuous.
Do Witnesses serve Jehovah for a "Paradise" payday!!

I tend to agree that the "Paradise" with the lion pets, picnic lunches, etc. might be one motive -
But to be a little contrarian: Maybe a lot of witnesses are doing all this just to be part of the JW club. I know I did - more for acceptance in the group than for the paradise. I really never had a firm belief in armageddon and the new earth...not even before 1975.
It was more like a weird social order for me personally - you just had to obey all their rules to be accepted. It dissolved when I finally realized that all their rules and teachings were phony BS.

I did. I hated God and told him so. I hoped he'd still let me into paradise because I was doing what he asked.

While I was going into the cancer, it was so I could survive into the New Dark Ages without realizing it would be another Dark Ages. But, it was only a year or 18 months later that I was solely serving that Almighty Lowlife Scumbag (who welshed on His promises) to avoid being hounded.

Many times I heard witnesses say oh I would love jehovah & serve him even without the paradise & everlasting life well the problem with that is why? because if he isn't going to make it right stop the pain & suffering & death than he's a monster not worthy of anyones love or devotion so yea I used to believe there was a solution and he was working on a just good plan to help humanity and we just didn't fully understand it yet but he was loving and we would be happy well one thing I do know the wtbs was full of it. they don't have a clue & neither do I at this point I certainly hope something wonderful will happen. Hoping for the best whatever that might be.

I would say they do although some would deny it. Many make all these sacrifices because they feel there will be a payoff later on. (VERY later). Sadly, they defer their very lives to some later date (in Paradise) and squander the precious commodity of time. They let it run through their hands like sand in an hourglass.
Lost time is a commodity we can never get back. I suppose they are hoping Jehovah will restore their lost youth.
