I did hear rumours that these brothers had to promise not to marry for several years following their graduation I appreciate this may have been a rumour so will fully understand if anyone corrects me on this point.

In the past it was expected that you'd remain single for a certain period of time. These days they are more lenient, you are allowed to have a girlfriend (but if I recall correctly not yet engaged) and you can attend the MTS.

looloo the elders are told they have all the qualifications they need because of the "Pay Attention Book" and of course the Holy Spirit.

The secretary in the congregation I quit is likely a latent one. Never married, ex-bethelite, doesn't date. Admitted that porn had no pull on him. Had a sissy-boy way about him.

Not a bad guy really. It's just that the big elephant in the room, namely his obvious gay-ness would have kept him from becoming one had he not gotten promoted to be an elder at Bethel.

I suppose I think a lot of JW men are gay. Maybe it's the hanging out with guy-crap they enjoy. I always preferrred talking to sisters. Brothers just seemed so dull.

When I attended MTS in 2002, there were several brothers who were "all but" engaged...meaning in fact they were but officially not. Within a few months they were married to their girlfriends...some went to their assignments with their wives, a few waited a little bit then got married.

One brother got a real hassle from fellow students because during lunch break, after chores, he would be quietly huddled in the corner of the library or class talking to his significant other.

however, as of 2002....AT THE TIME OF THEIR APPLICATION...THEY MUST BE UNATTACHED...not dating...not engaged...not married.

This, IMO, is an odd question.

Of course you can be unmarried and an elder. There are CO's that are single.

And remember, Fred Franz was never married. Nor are many in Bethel.

Fact is, that is what they want. That way, they can join the Ministerial Value Destroyer Training School and spread the cancer wherever the Washtowel wants it growing. Including in a billion spots simultaneously.

I wonder if in someways the org would prefer it that way. Not relying on their own experience, the never-been-married would have to just 'go by the book'.
