Is it okay for JW to be deal or no deal contestant?

I think it would depend on the congregation and the type of publicity that resulted. A brother in Sydney had to step down from being an elder after winning a car on a game show due.

I can remember being brought in where the following were banned:

**Being a game show contestant. It brought attention to oneself plus you were relying on the misfortune of someone else.

**Playing a sweepstakes. You were gambling a stamp.

**Playing a lottery ticket you got free. Even if it was a lottery ticket that never went to the public--you are still gambling.

**Playing any contest at a store. Again, they called it gambling because you pay for it with higher prices on the products.

**Playing any of those games at a fair where you could win a prize. This includes those grab-a-prize machines we have all seen so many of. Even if you are playing for fun. Even if it is strictly a game of skill.

**Being entered for a drawing of any kind.

**Buying a product with a contest (like a ticket hidden within the package to win something) and playing the game.

Doing any of the above was called "gambling", and the slime that dragged me into the cancer wanted me to be absolutely exemplary. He had zero tolerance for anything, and brought me in with the strictest interpretation of every rule in the book. Which serves to disunite me from other witlesses that are allowed to do some or all the above articles--none of which the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger itself has ever been proven to come right out and ban.

Using that logic, you should be allowed to shop at the store either, because you're paying for gambling.
