as in..."Hi, my name is Soa Fraid and i hope you will accept my offer for a free home bible study. The reason you should accept this free offer is that our leaders, the men who have compiled the material for this study receive direct communication from God, and he speaks to no other religion on earth. They then write down what God has told them to, and publish it in a zillion languages so that we can teach people what God really meant in his New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures...you may refer to it as the bible. BTW...if you join us and ever want to leave us...none of us will ever speak to you again."

i mean why start with paradise and life everlasting etc.?????.........geeze what a bait and switch................oompa

talk about lack of full disclosure!!!!!!

Steve Hassan says that nobody joins a cult. People are recruited into cults, and as such, deception is necessary in the recruiting process.

That sounds accurate, in regards to the WT organization, IMHO.

Why don`t they cut to the Chase?..

When Jehovah`s Witness`s knock on your door..

Everything is a secret, including who they represent..

Try to get a Jehovah`s Witness..

To tell you they`re a Jehovah`s Witness, when they come to your door..

    It`s Frigg`n near Impossible!..

Considering that jws feel they are the only one making God name's known and his kingdom and they never mention either. If you look at the "recommended" presentations, it is always "God" not Jehovah and maybe around Christmas they mention Jesus or the kingdom. Here's the only presentation where it suggests saying you are a jw.

*** rs p. 20 How You Might Respond to Potential Conversation Stoppers ***‘I’m sorry that I caught you at an inconvenient moment. As you may know, I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I wanted to share with you an important thought from the Bible. But since you don’t have time to listen right now, I would like to give you this tract, which discusses (name the subject). It won’t take long to read, but you will find it very interesting.’

Only in telephone witnessing are jws told to identify themselves as such.

*** km 7/90 p. 4 par. 6 Presenting the Good News—By Telephone *** If the person asks, "Whom do you represent?" simply say without pausing, "I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and I am calling to invite your opinion on this interesting question. Have you ever wondered . . . ?"

But notice here they play the game:

*** km 11/85 pp. 4-5 par. 23 Meeting the Challenge of Apartment Witnessing ***Before answering the door, many people will look through the peephole to see who is knocking. If you detect this, what can you do? One sister experienced in apartment witnessing stated: "Look directly at the peephole and immediately say a warm greeting." This lets the householder know that you know he is there. If the householder asks, "Who is it?" you can simply give your name and that of your companion. If this does not succeed in getting the householder to open the door, then identify yourself as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

IMHO there is no chase to cut to. JW's don't go out in service to convert people, they go out in service to make sure they don't get killed at Armageddon. The only thing they have to do is show up on Saturday morning and turn in a report at the end of the month. Converting people, or even talking about God is secondary, if they walk around for three hours with Watchtowers in their hands their hands the time "counts" - even if they don't talk to a single person.

I once heard a GB member by the name of Ulyssis Glass give a talk in the early 80's in which he illustrated how a person can falls away from the truth.

He said it is like sitting in a boat on a calm day, in time the waves will carry you away and you might not even be aware of it.

Now I apply this to people who get snagged into a religion, they dont see what is happening until its too late,

sort of like drifting out to sea, and suddenly realizing that you dont have any oars to get back to shore !

Interesting. It sort of makes you think they know they are not telling the truth. If someone discovered a vaccine against cancer, say, and I were to knock on people's door to let them know about it, why would I hide the facts?
