Householder: "Are you here to try and convert me into a Jehovah's Witness?"

Witness: "NOOOO! We are here to share a message from the bible."

The WT Society-sanctioned rationale for this blatant lie is that nobody can convert anybody - they must WANT to change their religion.

The best way of not placing WT/A MAGS or turning the household off.Say" Iam one of Jehovah's Witnessess."That way you do not have a R.V.

People used to say to me regularly 'I'm not interested in Jehovah's Witnesses. I would say innocently. We're not here to talk about them. We're here to talk about the bible.

    Yeh right.

I always said Good Morning my name is Bob I am a Jehovah's Witness. They would say not interested or something like that and I would move on. The only problem I had was when the householder said OK so and did not give me short shift.... then I had to actually think of something to talk about.....bummer

I always used to open with "Good morning we are a couple of Jehovah`s Witnnesses,..... bla blah blah", if anyone did want to talk, the first thing they usually said was "I`m glad you`re not those Moonies", that was in the `80s, I don`t know how things work nowadays as I stopped talking to them (and visa versa) 20 odd years ago.

    Being a DA/Df`d has it`s advantages.

    All the best

    I always said I was a JW.

That way 999 out of 1000 I was told they weren't interested.

I see your point. It feels awful to be rejected at the door. But, since you're in this forum and you see things differently, do you realize why the people are not interested?

I agree with JeffT. There is also the embarrassment and fear factor. I think a lot of JWs dread meeting someone who knows more than they do about the Bible as well as their organization.

dpg, that’s not the point of this thread.

The thread is discussing how the presentation we were taught to give at the doors, was not completely true. And considering that God should be a god of truth, then you’d expect his witnesses to be just as truthful.

I think this is one of those instances where you’d have to be there, to completely understand what we’re talking about.

I did understand the thread. See my first post. Yes, I would have had to be there to really understand what you talk about - from your perspective. I have been "there", on the other side, as the unbeliever to whom the half-lies (which is to say half-truths) were being told. That should also matter, because the way people receive your message affects the way you deliver the message. And why do people receive the message that way?
