The WTS gives lip service by saying commendation should be given but reality is:

Elder: Sister Downtrodden, I want to commend you for the fine answers you give BUT lately we have noticed a drop in your hours.

The WTS One-Two Punch, Commend then Criticize.

Could we ever justify it before Jehovah if we did not?’ Many who are not pioneers could well ask the related question: β€˜Can I really justify before Jehovah the fact that I am not a pioneer?’”

From where did the classification of "Pioneering" originate? From Jehovah or from The Watchtower?

The answer to that question answers exactly to whom one justifies if one is pioneering or not.

Min, I ALWAYS felt like I could never do enough AND when I did somebody would either give you another PRIVELEDGE or throw a bunch of guilt shit in your face. WTF? Priveledges...just another "look at me" syndrome in the life of a JW in servitude of the WT cult. What else would they want? Elder, MS, preacher, sound, Account Servant, lawn mower, window washer, tree trimmer..blah, blah, blah... And you still gotta go to work and do your daily 9-5 and your own f*ckin' chores at home..Assholes..

The guilt trip that what you do is not good enough and the burden of always being pushed to do more is a major flaw of this religion. It's hard to emotionally cope in that type of environment for a prolonged period of time.

The elders FIRST are to commend and then counsel you.

Good thread! I think most people believe God is expecting something from us, in return for the life of his son. The WT takes advantage and exploits that belief. I've never been a JW, but I see this sad belief still alive in many churches.

I wish people could experience the joy of God's GIFT to the world (the real GOOD NEWS), instead of the guilt trip that is put on so many, by so called Churches/religions, just like the WT.

The irony is that in order to continue to exist, they are dependent on the ones who don't 'put kingdom interests first'. If everyone were to follow the advise from the literature and platforms, monetary contributions would slow to an almost non-existent trickle. They play a pretty good game of piling on the guilt, but the only reason they're still in business is because a fair number ignore the instructions.

I knew that you guys were put on a treadmill, but I didn't know about the "selling your house" thing. Wow. So you're actually encouraged to sell your home if you can? I would appreciate an answer even though I realize that's not the topic of this thread. Thank you.

In the early 1970s, "selling your home" was a praiseworthy thing! Many were commended for doing so, in view of the End being so near.

My grandparents and parents were both told they shouldn't have children.

    I SHOULDN'T BE ALIVE.
