I will be going tonight, to take my elderly parents there.
I have been out for several decades. I've begun to make the memorial an annual ritual, as attending it brings lots of joy to my parents. I have long ago forgiven my parents for the mistakes they made in joining this organization and raising our family as Witnesses.
Some observations:
1. The witnesses are good at extracting any possible fun out of their lives. They don't celebrate holidays or birthdays. The one event they celebrate is a tease; you get to look at the wine and crackers, but don't you dare partake of them!
2. Vicodin is required for me to even make it through the one hour that the Memorial is. It keeps a smile on my face and makes the time pass quicker. It's the only time that I ever consume that medicine.
3. I notice that the "sisters" are always very interested in me. They make me feel like a piece of meat! I have no problem attracting "worldly" females, so I don't pay the Witness ladies much attention. It's really weird that they would be so interested in a "worldly" guy (I was never baptized, DF'd, or DA'd).
4. While there, I find myself doing exactly what I did when I was a kid. I stare at my watch and wonder when the hell I'm going to get out of there.

I found an invitation today stuffed beneath my front stoop, nearly invisible. I wonder how long it's been there. Gosh, if only I'd have known sooner I coulda planned to go.

It was in a ball on the closet floor.

Didn't go made curry instead. Would have drunk beer too but hubby said I just had to pass it to him as I don't have heavenly calling.
