    Bethel lunchtime....their is always a young brother who eats more Potatoes or chicken etc. leaving the plate empty and others from his table scrounging from other "less hungry" tables. So some Writer with a chip on his shoulder writes this article.

    Watchtower 1974 p.167 "Glutton...fails to show love for Jehovah. Is food a big thing in his life? If in the presence of others, does he selfishly ignore their needs and take more than his fair share? Is he grossly overweight but shows no restraint over food, habitually gourging himself? Does he feel un-comfortable, perhaps even getting sick because of eating too much?...he has no place in the Congregation of Gods people...he will not inherit God's kingdom..."

    Watchtower 1978 12/15 p.9 "At a meal the gluttonous person may make it impossible for other diners to eat to satisfaction. For this reason the glutton may even be dispised...he actually isolates himself from others...they may shun him...he may incurr God's displeasure and lose his life...In the near future God's kingdom through Jesus Christ will bring law dyfing Gluttons to an end...then persons will "hunger no more." {WTF!}

    If this wasn't so mind-controllingly serious I'd be LOLing. Once the blinders fall off the borg is a complete joke.

    You have to wonder how many "weird" WT articles or edicts are dictated by the personal pet peeves of GB members (or their wives!)

    Pinatas are OK now? Must be because "some of of my best friends are Mexican".

    Luaus are a "conscience matter" despite their clear "pagan" background? Must be because we're planning a trip to Hawaii and want to attend one.

    Denim skirts are outlawed for Bethel visits? Must be because Sister Big-Time finds them tacky.

    I think I see where my Mom got her attitudes towards overweight people. Ironically, she was quite large later in life. She was a 5 foot 2 inch woman and a size 18. I was wheeling her through Sears one day at this weight ('cause now she's wheelchair bound) and she has the audacity to point at an overweight woman and say loudly 'Look at that fat woman over there!'

    I was SO embarrassed and ashamed. I bent down and whispered to her "You're not that small yourself, ya know."

    So much for God's loving people.

    Ever known of anyone to be disfellowshipped for being a glutton? Seriously? The WTS could easily support this with scripture. On the ministry you can be clearly idenfied as being a glutton. If you smoked on the ministry or were drunk you get DF'd - so what's the difference?

    *** w29 9/1 p. 270-271 The Sin That Will Never Be Forgiven ***

    After coming to this knowledge and having his sins forgiven, and having been received into divine favor, this individual could commit sin again and lose his standing with God, lose divine favor, and lose life again. In the Scriptures this is called second death....Yielding to the inherited or acquired weaknesses of the flesh is not the sin unto death, and yet the Devil has led everybody to believe that lying, stealing, swearing, committing adultery, getting drunk or losing one's temper, or any other of the long list of fleshly weaknesses, constitutes sin unto death. But, on the contrary, all these things are forgivable. This explains why David could be called a man after God's own heart. His heart was loyal, but his flesh was weak.

    *** w78 12/15 p. 10 Gluttony—Why Avoid It? ***

    In this state, he will be dull respecting the will of Jehovah and may be very negligent in discharging responsibilities toward him. Unless the individual corrects his course, he may incur God’s displeasure and lose his life. People in Noah’s day before the flood gave themselves over to eating, drinking and pleasure-seeking to such an extent that they paid no heed to the warning of impending destruction, as sounded by Noah and his family. In effect, the people lived to eat and drink. As a result, they lost their lives.
