The new songs sang at the Memorial

Got a new song book at the Memorial last night. Was kinda excited about the new songs...at least at first...especially when I realized that the songs that I was going to have to stand through were only two stanzas/verses/thingies/whatever long instead of 4...

That is...until they started playing and singing them.

Wow...were they terrible. I'm not a musician but I know a well crafted song when I hear one...and I didn't hear any last night...until I got back in my car anyway.

God did those songs suck. Why in all that's not holy about the memorial would they drop the old standards that at least everyone knew to force this crap on everyone? They're not even singable... not that I tried.

I thought that the first one was the worst song I've ever heard! I just wanted to hang myself after that... sooo depressing!

My mum and dad were singing the old one in the car on the way home... Can't beat the old songs out of the elderly I'm afraid.

What if they would change the songs in Church? I think they would start a fight. JW's have another reason to organise an activity where there is a guitar involved, bad quality songs and lemonade in paper cups.

The new songs are awful. The memorial one is the worst of the lot. Everything about this religion gets worse over time.

The earlier melodies to these two songs were far batter; "change for change's sake" when they have nothing new or insightful to offer.

Our Memorial everyone seemed to stumble over the words.....only two verses is cool though.

If the songs are only 2 stanzas and dropped and added songs, that means there had to be new CDs...any reason to pressure the congregations for donations.

We just about managed to sing the new versions of old songs at our mem' but people were tending to drift into the old version.

Not only will they be expected to donate for more CDs, but they will have to throw away the existing ones. To me, that is a complete waste--throwing away 8 CDs, and getting 4 (I can't see any reason why they wouldn't fit on 4 discs if they are so much shorter).

I never did like Kingdumb sxxx, but this sounds like it is getting worse. People not able to sing it, drifting back toward the old versions, finding it blasphemous and offensive, and the new songs all sounding alike suggest that it is even worse now than when I was a witless. I doubt very much that I could survive long on those 135 songs--if that's all I had, better to have no music.
