I hadn't thought about that movie in a long time. Yes, it had a good love story. I get a bit squeamish at the bloody parts, though. These Indian battles really did happen in the early days of the U.S.

I hated this film. The whole time I watched it, I was rooting for Magua. He was the only Indian I respected in the film. My favorite scenes included the part when Magua finally got some getback and cut out Monroe's heart. I felt good for him at that point. Vengeance. The other part I loved was when the woman walked off the cliff rather than go with Magua, and he looked at her like, "oh well. Easy come, easy go. We don't love dem hoes."

I loved the musical score (And any movie with Madeline Stowe...)

Daniel Day-Lewis handles a long rifle convincingly and Chingachgook's gunstock club is an interesting piece of history. Wes Studi gave an awesome performance.

The movie fails to portray how lethal trained soldiers of the time were with bayonets and is in that respect inaccurate. David McCullough's book, 1776 reconstructs warfare of the period through historical records and pretty much dispels any notion that British soldiers could have been charged with arm-length weapons (i.e. Knives and war hatchets) after a musket volley.

I just watched it again the other day (just recently replaced the VHS with a DVD). It is a movie I watch every now and then for the music, the scenery, and the story.

When she drops off the cliff I always think Magua is confused about why she would do that.
