It's not Gehenna because it's only Gehenna when explicitly described as so. Death is not synonymous with Gehenna, it is with Hades and Sheol though.

When to apply Hades/Sheol vs Gehenna is subjective because the Bible only gives ambiguities when speaking of Gehenna.

BTW I am not a Christian, I am just playing the Devils Advocate here and using logic to reason out this topic.

As to why plants die in the seeminly same manner as we do, most Jehovah's Witness will say that we don't. They will go into 'proof' that our bodies were designed to live forever and talk about the evidence pointing to the brain having limitless capacity.

That leads me to the question of can the same thing be said for plants and animals? Could there be a case that they should keep growing forever?

Point taken. I think your post was good, Sab, because then we know one more argument that WOULDN'T work.

Also, why do the animals get sick and die? I have been told that death is natural for animals, but not humans. They claim plants and animals are perfect, yet they still die.

Which doesn't answer the question as to why they get sick and old. Just ask anyone that has owned a pet that has gotten old. Or, someone that lives near wildlife, and has seen what happens when animals get older. Usually, they start losing performance ability and become food for predators or starve from not being able to catch food. Just ask the hippopotamus what happens to its teeth when it reaches about age 25--they wear out, the animal is unable to eat, and it starves to death. Imperfection?
