Welcome, joeblow. I'm not going to actively attempt to convert you, but if you have any questions about hating God, being atheist, worshipping Satan, becoming an antichrist, torturing animals, raping children, etc, just ask one of us atheists here, we'd be glad to help.
If, though, you wish to know "the Almighty's perspective", I guess you'll have to check with his chosen prophet on this board--luckily, that person has made him/her-self known to us all! ;-)

Hey all, thanks for the welcome. I hope I can mutter about something interesting from time to time. Ha ha ha
Jonathan: I've explored a lot of life in the past few years. I've ventured into various churches around the world to see what they were all about. I've read up on the various religions... and decided it's simply not for me. I'm OK with the idea that I'm just here, and there is no "flying spaghetti monster" in the sky waiting for me to mess up and rain down his/her/its judgment on me. I'm not a God hater... people are free to believe if they choose. My choice is to put it all behind me and attempt to live my life for me and my partner.
Heaven: I have some insight to the tough life aspect... you're definitely bang-on with that observation. I have a sibling who was DF'd several years ago (for falling for an "unbeliever"). I've watched (from a distance) the trouble that has caused. That's actually one of the reasons I chose to fade vs stomp my feet and make a big production out of it.

Hey, I welcome you here. I read what you posted on Flipper's thread how you attended a memorial in years past with jeans, a t-shirt, and a goatee. Awesome.
If your parents can pretend all is okay, that is a winner.My last meeting was the 2008 Memorial and I went in khakis, sneakers, collared casual shirt. I didn't stand out really, but I didn't fit in either. Everyone acted as if that were just fine and normal.

OnTheWayOut: Actually, that was just a regular Sunday meeting with me in jeans, t-shirt and a goatee I had traveled back to visit my family and was expected to attend. I didn't fight it... but I also didn't arrive in my home town with anything resembling "meeting clothes". It was kinda weird attending in that KH. It was odd that no one questioned my appearance - not even the beard... yet the beard thing is a major taboo in that cong... or was years ago anyway.
I knew almost everyone there... everyone was a LOT older (funny how that happens. most I hadn't seen in almost 20 years), and there was basically no young people. Most of the people were the parents of my former peers and friends... in their 60s and 70s, some even older. A few of my old friends were there... we went out for beer and chicken wings later that night.
I get the feeling that everyone knows I've faded away, yet no one wants to confront it, or admit it. One of my friends from that cong confided in me later that night that they were really wondering why they bothered going anymore... it was an interesting conversation.
