I was just wondering how a Jehovah's Witness would answer this.

In John 5:22, the NWT states:

"The Father judges no one, but has committed all the judging to the son"

In Rev 18:8, the NWT states:

(speaking of the fall of Babylon) "...because Jehovah God, who judged her, is strong"

Another translation of that verse reads:

"for mighty is the Lord God who judges her"

Since the WT rejects the concept of the trinity, how do they explain this verse? If Jehovah committed all judging to the son, why does the NWT say 'Jehovah has judged her'

    Any comments very much appreciated.

You are aware that the witnesses inserted the name "Jehovah" into their New Testament NWT on their own authority and without foundation in ancient manuscripts, right?

The Borg explains things like this in the following way: since it is Jehovah who gives Jesus the responsibility of judging, all of the judging done is technically by Jehovah. Just like they explain the creation; Jehovah created Jesus, who then made all other things and yet Jehovah is still credited as being Creator.

In reality, the NWT isn't a translation but rather a JW version of the Bible in which they added the name Jehovah to the Greek Scriptures in hundreds of places where it previously didn't exist in ANY.

True, to a point. It does not mean that Jesus, the creature, the created humanity of the God-man that is referred to as the hypostatic union is God Almighty, at least according to Orthodox Christianity (Catholics and the Reformed churches) which teaches that “The humanity of Christ is a creature, it is not God” (Catholic Encyclopedia, 922).

But if Jesus is the only judge, and YHWH is the only judge, then it supports the trinitarian concept of Jesus being God.

    Explained here in detail:http://www.144000.110mb.com/trinity/index.html

Language is only language when it is used to communicate. When violence is done to it the result is conceptual nonsense.

In the sentence below the word only loses all conceptual meaning for communication.

The interpretations required bend the mind toward chaos.

But if Jesus is the only judge, and YHWH is the only judge, then it supports the trinitarian concept of Jesus being God.

The best you can get out of this is a Duality and not a TRInity. It takes three, you see.

Identity is what disambiguates one thing from another thing. You are creating ambiguity which is its opposite.

I have no doubt that by the time a couple of hundred years had passed on the transition between monotheism in Judaism and the Neo-Platonic

ideas of Constantine's Christianity the pagan ideas of demi-gods had penetrated "official" writings.

Even in Paul's day he was confused for a Pagan deity.

That is a mouthful of misinformation. No they are not the same. Jesus was no relation to the compilation of old testament gods.

God didn't create Jesus, Jesus was his only begotten son.

All things were created through Jesus and from The perfect union that was God, Jesus and their all encompassing HS.

    Welcome callitquits76!

Have a read of these three chapters and see who the Alpha and the Omega is Revelation 1, Revelation 21, Revelation 22

Certainly, there is a greater dimension to this oneness John 10:30 than the WT would have you believe.

Also, the seeing the Father here

    John 14:6-7 (New International Version)

6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

Not to mention the Mighty God, Everlasting Father here

    Isaiah 9:6 (New International Version)

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
    And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

    Footnotes:
    1. Isaiah 9:6 Or Wonderful, Counselor

    Blessings,

    Stephen

Cameo, Jesus of Nazareth is the God of the Old Testament.

The Gospel of John establishes that in its prologue, and interweaves that theme throughout the book.

    Read it and weep.
