Good for you Old Hippie. It's nice to see how Jehovah motivated you in order to cleanse the congregation.
Resignation - not that it matters at all, but ....

Hi Hippy.
Regardless of what anyone thinks or says.. what you did was brave.
24 years is a long time to be involved in any task. Over time all people are inclined to complacency or routine. Its what makes one comfortable.
To voluntarily walk away from a position of prestige, to undoubtedly be questioned by all who wonder "why did he resign?", and to be willing to be put under the microscope by your local JDub community for your actions is a courageous course.
My thoughts go out to you, I sincerely wish you peace and happiness in your quest for knowledge and real truth.
The true Kingdom of God is located in your heart, not an organization of hypocrites.

Well, I have been there and I know how you feel. I am sure that your KH is losing a voice of reason on the body. Their loss. However, still continue in your life to be an elder brother to all of God’s sheep and continue to good to all............

Whatever, YoYoMama:
Typical JW thinking....A person, whom you no NOTHING about decides to resign as an elder and automatically, it's because there is something wrong with HIM. Instead of showing concern, and supporting him & encouraging him as your brother, you make a smart ass comment like that.
Once again, YYMM, you make me grateful that I am no longer like you.

TOH - You are definitely a courageous man!!! You may not feel like it, but just remember: courage is not "not feeling fear". Courage is feeling fear and still doing the right thing. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. You know the organization is not going to do it.
Yoyomama - Why on earth would you say something like that??? IF you are a true Christian you would only lovingly ask why? or what made you make that decision?. You don't see TOH heart like Jehovah can. You don't know the details of his life. I can't even believe you are making such unloving remarks. Why? How does your conscience allow you to do that?

Hi oldhippie I am new here and learning. I've noticed this board is a place where people come to let out issues they have held in for years. I can't imagine what is like not to speak how you truly feel because of fear. I do hope you find the freedom you are looking for.
WOW 24yrs. That's a long time to dedicate your life to a movement . Mind if I ask what motivated you to stay there so long? And what made you leave?
Many have said, they lost families members in this religion, did you lose anyone? Or better yet, leave someone behind?
Since you have been there for so long would you explain if there's a big difference between those who are "raised" in the religion from those who just happen to come in from "the world" as they say?

((((((((((((Hippie))))))))))))) Or should I say, Yippy! Cause I am so happy.
I know it is a hard decision you had to make, but you made it. If you are still attending meetings, So what, when you are ready, you will make that decision also.
I wish you all the best.

I don't want someone in my life I can live with. I want someone in my life I can't live without.

anythingThere that's out of the way.
Anyway, congradulations to you!! Now comes the fun part. Watch the entire congregation try to figure out why you did it. What will be the reason that they come up with?
How long before you are looked upon with suspicion by the other elders?

Of course YoYo has to jump in there with typical JW conern and love. His congregation isn't clean YoYo, but he is.
