Frankly I do not understand the left's antagonism toward Israel. It is the only liberal democracy in that part of the world. Watching what goes on there makes me think of the show "Life without People." What do you think would happen there if the Isrealis suddenly disappeared?
Agreed. And, on the other side of that coin - I cannot fathom the left's sympathy toward radicalized Islam. This has the most hateful, warlike (even war-criminal) aspect, misogyny, abuse of civil rights, disregard of civil liberty and free government, and so on anywhere in the world. Seemingly such a movement should be hated by the left - but I never see that view stated on their part. Dare I suggest that perhaps the kinship the left holds with the Arab Islamics is fueled by their hatred of the U.S.?

Neither is damaging our relationship with G.B. Apparently, the plan is to isolate our friends and appease our enemies. The thing is, no matter how nice we are to these regimes, they will continue to hate us.

Isn't it desirable for damn near the entire world, if those people (after all, we are talking about actual human beings on both sides here) find a way to coexist? And if you agree with that premise, is it reasonable to assume that all concessions and obediences are going to be given by one side? Geez. What you call "the left's antagonism toward Israel" is basic diplomacy.
I might ask why the right feels it acceptable to "bomb that entire region in to glass". Which is a quote from a post on this very board.

It's a raw nerve. But this is no surprise, these same groups were pawns of the Soviets during the Cold War as well. With the end of that, they've become radical Islam's useful idiots domestically. They never seem to fail to be on the wrong side.
And I wonder why the LA Times still refuses to release the recording where Obama dined with Rashid Khalidi.
