"Your spiritual equal? - One nutcase of a Bethel Elder told a few of us that if we are interested in someone, we should check with the PO of her congregation. Even to the point of looking at her publisher cards for a history. (is that even possible?)"

It wasn't just that elder, this was widespread practice.

They would of had trouble reading my publisher card I don't think there was anything written on it.

Co-signing everything serenity, little sister and bluecanary posted. Because brothers had plenty to choose from, they had ridiculous standards for sisters. It is an invisible, lonely life for any sister that didn't measure up. I saw many sisters who settled for whacky brothers because the pickings were slim.

Young sisters need to wise up to this disparity. Even if they don't question the doctrinal nonsense of JW, this issue alone is enough reason to walk away.

Oh no, you're supposed to "wait on Jehovah" because he will provide you a "suitable mate". I passed up alot of good worldly men because of this thinking.

I know of a sister in her 50s- was still a VIRGIN, kept on waiting. Finally she went ahead and did the deed with some worldly guy, now disfellowshipped. I feel bad for her, all her life she waited while people told her that Jehovah would provide, which of course he didn't. She should get a medal for waiting that long IMHO.

The good ole 'wait on jah' advice. Just a tool to control women in the org, they need keep to that large army women peddling that garbage.
