Ray Franz GB Committee Meeting Tapes - Really Destroyed?

  I was just reading over chapter 12 of Crisis of Conscience this evening and wondered what others think of this.

  The GB promised copies of the tapes. Reiterated that copies were forthcoming. Then reneged on the promise. When pressed they claimed they had "destroyed" the tapes and that three GB members were present to oversee the destruction.

  Ray Franz seems to believe them in CoC.

  Am I the only one here who thinks they were full of crap and that the tapes were never destroyed? What do you all think?

  That...is exactly, exactly why they destroyed them. Ya' just can't trust nobody these days! So, having 3 GoomBas doing the dirty deed seems just about right to me. (CYA!)

  I reckon they destroyed the tapes, if not they have probably self destructed by now, tape aint that good after lying around for decades.

  I also think that they took a written copy, and that sits in a locked room somewhere, forgotten. maybe when they finally move out of Crooklyn it, and other stuff will come to light.

  I agree - logically, it would be pretty difficult to come up with the tape NOW after claiming it was destroyed, right? Of course, who knows what nutjob idea might have come about to save a copy for some unknown reason -

  Whether or not the tapes were destroyed or not depends on their content. If they contained anything that the cult could use to its advantage at some future time then they are probably locked away somewhere.

  I doubt if they destroyed anything. They certainly didn't want to make anything available to Ray Franz and this was the easiest way to do it.

  I have to admit to being slightly surprised that the committee meeting was recorded in the first place.

  This is not "standard procedure," is it?

  The only recording I've ever known of were recording that were done SECRETLY by the accused; in fact, I'm pretty sure that the written rules say recording devices should not be present during committee meetings.

  Am I wrong? If so, it will be yet another proof that the endtimes are upon us.
