Is it even POSSIBLE to escape our own PERSPECTIVE??

Yes, but many factors that form the perspective we presently have bind us to that viewpoint. The viewpoint we have may not really (probably isn't) our own but we rarely rely on our own ability to reflect using freely. The community around us subtily molds our perspective all the while insisting that we are thinking these things because they are true.

Unbinding a viewpoint is hard. A little like jumping off a cliff.

Before we read a newspaper article or watch a news broadcast the editorial staff have already filtered out EVERY OTHER STORY!

    If it bleeds, it leads.

I try to watch at least three different news organizations to get an idea of the contrast between ideologies: CNN, MSNBC, FOX. I listend to the BBC news on radio. If Ihad to choose between all of them I'd go with the BBC for interesting commentary.

When I read a book on a person or topic I try and find two books completely opposite in opinion or viewpoint to read first. Then, I pick the neutral ones once I've determined what the touchy issues and points of conflict are.

Tain't easy being informed because humanity here on Earth suffers from CONFIRMATION BIAS. They only want to feed themselves on opinons with

    which they already agree.

Trying to escape the JW perspective we use the same JW perspective. For some of us thats all we had. Its impossible to start from ignorance. Its like replacing the bricks of a house. The house is already built. you can only replace one brick at a time. Dont remove many bricks at once because it will collapse.

I've told the story many times.

I had to replace every concept in my thinking! Slowly, carefully, precisely.

    It took years.

Every once and awhile I discovered one hiding....lurking in the background....like a sniveling rat with red eyes glowing in the dark.

Had to smash the bastard flat!
