I did hear of a brother that was shot and killed by his Bible study. The man was strung out on drugs. But, of course, they blamed the brother, because he was counselled not to continue studying with the man unless he was clean for a specified amount of time.

I can't find it but I remember an experience in the magazines about a brother who was killed by a man at the door who ended up studying in prison and becoming a jw, upon release he put in 200 hours a month to make up for the pioneer brother and for himself (back in the 100 hr/mo day)

At one time, I was almost nearly bitten by a dog while in a special territory campaign. I was with a wife of an elder. As a brother, I had to be the one to lead her regardless of her status a wife of an elderless. The dog owner did not restrain the dog while it approached me for a bit. I do not know what helped me. I stood calm, never moved and the dog just had to sniff on my shoes in amazement. The solid calm helped the astonished neighbor to come out of her house to take back her dog. The dog was of Chow kind. After field service at KH, my experience was the talk of dubs and how lucky I was. Strangely, had I been bitten by a dog, they could have loved me more as a kind of a martyr.

I heard that one as a teen at my Kingdom Hall...looking back, I find it hard to believe.

Not so long ago, a brother in Cheltenham UK was stabbed by a study he was visiting.

    It was quite widely publicised.

2007 in Gloucestershire Echo, these old articles are charged for, I can't find a free one!

"A Man accused of stabbing a Jehovah's Witness will be interviewed by two psychiatrists.

They will judge whether Daniel Stepien, of Wasley Road, Cheltenham, is fit to enter a plea.

Stepien is said to have inflicted multiple stab wounds on an unnamed 58-year-old who visited his home.

But a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent has yet to be formally put to Stepien because of concerns about his mental state."

Some the original witnesses, Jesus' apostles were killed for preaching. Jesus showed that this was the quickest way to heaven. Even before this Jehovah's loyal servants were persecuted for having the truth.

In the 1942 book entitled entitled “The New World,” Abel, Noah and Moses are named in person and claimed as Jehovah's Witnesses, also Job:

“It is the proper time, therefore, to consider carefully the life history of Job, who was a Witness for Jehovah God. His true life experience was a prophetic drama which exposes the war hotly waged by religion against Jehovah's Witnesses from and after Abel, the first martyr slain by a religionist.” ( Page 130)

Please be mindful of these things brothers & sisters.

Regarding the sister who was blamed for her own murder because she shouldn't have been working on her own.

Many years ago when I was a pioneering teenage girl I frequently had no choice but to work on my own in order to get my 100 hours in! I couldn't keep dragging the regular publishers out to keep me company so I was just left to get on with it. Nobody told me I shouldn't be going out alone and not to worry if I couldn't get my hours in. I suppose if I had been murdered it would have been blamed on me as well!! I was lead to believe Jehovah would protect me as I was doing his work!!

I shake my head as I think back on some of the neighborhoods that we had for door-knocking. Some of the areas were lower-income housing - and while we tried to be careful - sending only adults inside - or up the stairs - it was still dicey - and something could easily have happened.

But - since it was usually early AM on Saturday morning - most 'bad guys' were probably still in bed asleep.

I don't know personally of anyone that got hurt... well, beyond the occassional bog bite.

    Regards,

    Jim TX

Lifeistooshort, There is a directive from the Society in letter form that all registered sex offenders known of in the territory are to be designated "Do not calls" and are to be approached annually by elders only. Just thought you'd like to know. This doesn't mean they are bright enough to adhere to it.

Yet JW pedophiles can associate freely in the cong...unbeknownst to the rank and file......priceless.
