    Mad-

Brilliant, send your time capsule to Headquarters with the instructions 'Open in 2049'...

Why only one generation overlap? Why not two, three, four? (Scriptural support is irrelevant).

Let's leapfrog our way through the generations to 'The End' a thousand years from now!

This should be accompanied by the sound track to Across the Universe

Words are flowing out/Like endless rain into a paper cup/They slither while they pass/They slip across the universe

    The never ending End.

I'm pretty sure my Father doesn't understand a thing about this new generation change. He doesn't even know they changed the blood policy.

A common response now is - "I don't serve Jehovah for a date, I serve him out of love for him....."

This was what I used to say.

People like to have events and issues resolved, much of Religion is based on some resolution to life's dilemma's. ie some sort of Judgement Day. Put it on god to wrap all of the loose strings up. We were hardly unique and certainly not the first to get wrapped up in that game.

Now we get to be good neighbors, actually contribute to making the future better. Sweet.

it buys the WT society more time to pilfer older JW members inheritances, trust funds, retirements, and real estate holdings which they encourage them to donate to the WT society before they die

So is there a plan B to phase out the generation overlap or just continue stretching and extending it? What I mean is, are they shooting themselves in the foot? Once they get the older JW's money, will the younger ones tire of "any minute now" and leave?

Personally, I know they had to do something. I think this is a smart move (as cults go). But it expires. Sure, it technically doesn't expire for decades, but with modern information super-highways you can't hold onto the new "generation" of JW's for decades with "any minute now."
I see it as trying to get past the lifetime of current Bethel big-wigs then to hell with the corporation. Maybe they can keep up the excitement as long as 2034, but that will be such a strain.

Its a sum game with diminishing payoffs. A lot of Christian Denominations had to finally give up on that game and adjust and adopt to a more pragmatic philosophy.

Yes. I imagine that was the plan after 1975. "Never do this again." But they just cannot mainstream themselves quite the way they want to.
I am sure if there were decent actual growth without resorting to pre-teen baptisms and 15-minute publishers to replace the steady stream of those who leave, they never would have done that again. But here they are, doing that again.

OTWO- I really believe the GB and WT society will indeed just keep " stretching and extending " the generation overlap theory until they've squeezed enough $$$$ out of the older members. I don't believe the younger members will " tire any minute now " as it will be a slow , gradual process as younger ones leave. ESPECIALLY if younger JW's upon their own old JW parents dying - discover that the WT society got all of mom and dad's loot , instead of them the children- it will create a foreboding sense in the children of " Oh $hit- we've been screwed ! " THEN we may see a higher number exiting. Hopefully that scenario will pan out in the next 20 to 30 years or so. One can only hope
