The trouble with conceptualizing God is that it is still just a concept. Whatever God is he/she/it must be totally beyond concept, a complete mystery to the mind. The problem with such a nonconceptual entity is that mind cannot accept such a thing, and so mind creates images and ideas to remove the mystery in order to account for the unanswerable questions in life. Those images and ideas then turn into religion, and look at the mess that has resulted from that.
Instead of approaching whatever God is conceptually, become absorbed in and comfortable with the mystery of life and be totally open to "what is" without looking at "what is" through any conceptual framework. This will leave you open and innocent, without preconceived ideas, bathing in the complete mystery of life and totally available for God to reveal him/her/itself to you. If you rely on the conceptual only you cut yourself off from such a possibility because you've boxed yourself within the mind.

I was raised a Catholic. So I had a concept of God built into me along those lines until I was 26 years old and I had to do something with it. I had to actually deal with God. But I didn't hear from him until I didn't know anything anymore.
Now I don't have a concept of God. I love him.
