Your JWs do seem to read from the same hymn book, oops, Kingdom song sheets or whatever different term they may employ to separate them sheep from us goats. And like sheep, they certainly are! Reading from prepared scripts like mindless telesalesmen. Two stock bait questions they like to ask potential converts are:

"Did "Jehovah-God", (yes, he does have a Christian and Surname) create earth to last for ever? and-

"Does Satan rule the world?" ( Be careful here, because if you say he does, then the Russellite will use this to say all except JWs are satanically controlled. (A sort of logical fallacy?)

Please help me answer these questions freethinkers out there!

    1. Not putting it near a star, he didn't!

    2. Well, does evil rule the world? I don't think so. It frustrates it sometimes, often complicates it, but it doesn't rule it.

Urk! So many ways to answer those two questions...

Unfortunately, since my answers would be based on scientific research, the average JW would look askance at me for stating: "No, of course "Jehovah" didn't create the earth to last forever because:

    (1) "Jehovah" himself is only one of many gods in the bible, and said bible is ONLY around 3,500 years old. When one compares that to the age of, say, the Acheulean Goddess totem or statue found in Israel, which is AT LEAST 235,000 years old and may be as old as 800,000 years old, one can see that this "Jehovah" is a mere "Johnny-come-lately" deity - in fact, is one of the most recent religious inventions on the face of the planet!! [Not counting Mormonism and Scientology, as well as Islam...]

    (2) The earth will actually cease to exist (according to the latest scientific estimates) sometime in the next 2 billion to 3 billion years... That means the earth will exist for a long time, but definitely NOT "forever"...

Then I could go on and on about how this "Jehovah" is a mis-pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton, that its correct pronunciation is actually closer to "Yahweh" than anything else, that they don't really know how 'his' name was supposed to be pronounced, that there are actually AT LEAST THREE 'gods' in the bible ("EL", "YHWH", and that Three-In-One Eleusian-Greek-influenced version in the "new testament"...), that the 'old testament' YHWH god was probably generated in the Isra-EL-ites' minds because of their superstitious misunderstanding of how the earth REALLY worked (they mistook erupting volcanoes as manifestations of their 'god', several times), and so on...

    Whew...

As to that part about "Satan" ruling the 'world', that's probably derived from a Zoroastrian belief that existed in Persia - among other areas - several hundred years before the 'new testament' was a gleam in a fanatic's eye... And how "Jesus" may not have ever existed - the Romans, who were scrupulous record-keepers, NEVER mention him during the time period that he was supposed to have 'lived'... He's only mentioned AFTERWARDS, as the Christian cult began to grow and gain power in the 2nd and 3rd centuries...

And on, and on, and on...

Wish I could be of further help to you...

    Maputo95,

Martin Luther perhaps said it best. "The Devil is God's devil." Satan can do nothing apart from God's permission (cf. Job 1:6-2:6). True, Satan is on a seemingly long leesh (2 Cor 4:4;1 Pet 5:8), but he can go no further than that leash allows (Mark 3:27; 2 Thes 2:5-9; Rev 20:1-3). God alone is sovereign. That, in my experience, is a fact that escapes the average Jehovah's Witness. Quite frankly, their god is too small.

    Sincerely,

    Rufus

    Welcome Rufus!

    Nice post :)

The WT god is a false idol.

1 Kings 18:26-29 (English Standard Version)

26 And they took the bull that was given them, and they prepared it and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, "O Baal, answer us!" But there was no voice, and no one answered. And they limped around the altar that they had made. 27 And at noon Elijah mocked them, saying, "Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is musing, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened." 28 And they cried aloud and cut themselves after their custom with swords and lances, until the blood gushed out upon them. 29 And as midday passed, they raved on until the time of the offering of the oblation, but there was no voice. No one answered; no one paid attention.

JWs have put many sacrifices on their altar, their lives, their children's lives, the lives of anyone who will listen to their false gospel. Still no fire, just slumber.

    Blessings,

    Stephen

    Hi maputo95,

Jesus made the universe and sustains it.

    Colossians 1:16-17 (New International Version)

16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

    John 1:1-3 (New International Version)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.

3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

    Blessings,

    Stephen

Did God make the world to last forever?

Probably not, like all things it grows olf and eventually will die.

Is Satan the ruler of this world?

No according to Jesus: " All power and authority on heaven and earth have been given to me".

Other passages in John that say that satan's rule is at an end ( with Jesus death and ressurection) and in James that if you resist the devil, he will flee.

    A. "Jehovah" did not "create" the earth.

    B. NOTHING lasts forever.

    C. There is no "Satan" or any other kind of sentient non-physical "spiritual creature", including "Jehovah". These are all products of your imagination. They are not real, and the sooner you relieve yourself of these concepts the better your only life on this planet will be.

Read 2 Peter 3:10-18. It is clear that the earth will be "laid bare" from fire that will melt the elements and all the works above and below. Nothing man-made will remain. Even the heavens will be burned up with a "loud noise". This vision seems to describe our sun going super-nova. After a few million (billion?) years - life will begin again (a new heavens and new earth).

Now, doesn't the idea of a "paradise earth" seem abit silly when nothing will survive? There won't be any houses to occupy. No vegetation. No animals. Not even oxygen. Where will everyone be? In heaven, of course.

Pretty much what you see at the end of the movie KNOWING. Start at the 8:17 mark ...
