Disconnect your cable and get Apple TV.

It's awesome - and you don't get the crap you don't want. You'll end up saving money in the long run.

Did you know "60 Minutes" is only 42 minutes with out the commercials?

Another way is to get a PVR like a TIVO then you can fast forward the commercials in a second or two.

What I would like to see come on the market is a devise that stops recording a broadcast while a commercial comes on,

then restart the recording again when the program returns...... I would pay for that.

Some programs go way too far with commercials 5.6,7, minutes very annoying and frustrating.

Move to the UK, then you can watch the BBC.

If you can stand the constant left-wing whinging.

Oh and it costs £130+ a year, whether you watch it or not.

Aren't they supposed to be coming out with a TV that doesn't raise the noise when a commercial comes on?

I also believe when cable first came out they didn't have commercials..at least not like now. They got greedy.

Same with different sites you go to on the computer.. More and more commercial ads pop up constantly ..

I also noticed that the really old shows like Alfred Hitchcock only has one commercial in the middle..haven't figured that one out yet.

And thankfully there are some channels that are commercial free.

I wonder if Apple TV is available in the states? Have to look into that. Do you mean watch TV on your Apple computer?

OK I checked out Apple TV..it is expensive. It cost around $300. and you pay 2 or 3 dollars for each program you want to watch?

About 10 years ago, I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to invent a device that muted the TV during commercials.

I told him that it would be an easy thing to do - since the program information is sent in the first few lines of the NTSC signal - probably 30 seconds prior to switching to a commercial.

Anyway, he said that they would just change the way that the info was sent.

In a way... I guess he was correct. Now we have digital TV.

The best way that my wife and I have to avoid the commercials is to record the shows, and watch them lated Fast-Forwarding through the commercials.

    Regards,

The good news concerning the noise level of commercials is that they passed a Bill last November (2009) that would regulate commercial volume. It can't be any louder than the regular programing. It is to be adopted by the FCC as regulation by November 2010 and they have to begin enforcing it by November 2011..
