In the U K we used to be able to pick it up on a car radio up to a mile or so away...If my wife did feel that she could face the assembly crowds we would sometimes park outside.....

    Happy days???

Do what I've done: Just walk in, find the "back room with all the elders" and ask them which frequency and where a good place is for you to record.

If you cannot pickup a radio signal, just find a folding chair in the corridor (always plenty) and sit next to one of the small speakers and place your recorder right next to the speaker.

You'll get everything, including the songs and prayers.

Note: When you ask about the recording information, they might start interrogating you about what congregation you're from and so on. Just tell them you're from the public. If they tell you that the convention is not meant for the public (they tried to tell me this), then show them a printout of the WTS website inviting the public (which I had on had).

Be prepared to counter their BS, all the while act like you're just a curious person who wants to learn more. Keep it light and just ask like you are a curious person. No need for any cloak-n-dagger nonsense. You could also tell them you are doing research and will be writing up an article to be published... which is true because you'll end up posting about it on this site.

Run a cable from the headphone jack of your radio to the microphone jack of your laptop/tape recorder/whatever.

Locally they announced that they soon won't be supporting the regular FM channels any longer. Instead we need to buy FM receivers for http://www.williamssound.com receivers which use a lower FM frequency than the regular radio range. Expensive little receivers, though.

I find it difficult to believe this. What you have posted is a link to a web site that provides devices for 'auditory assistance'. The range on the transmitter that I looked at was a mere 1000 ft. That's barely out into the auditorium - where the folks don't need this device.

What you may be referring to - might be for the hard-of-hearing - or deaf section of the auditorium.

    Regards,

Yes, a bit of a mix-up here. This announcement applied to Assemlies at Assemly Halls (and local kingdom halls). I'm actually not to sure what they do for the large conventions in public buildings.

I would like to find out the frequency for San Diego Qualcomm, since I want to record the one day I will be there. Also, I would prefer it to be the day of "new light" if I can. I do not want to waste the whole weekend on this project.
