AuntBee,
My wife has voiced a lot of her views to me privately that would not go down well should they start spreading amongst the flock. I think in terms of the 1914 thing though, she is completely ignorant (or pretends to be at least) concerning the significance of it. I think that is why she downplays the importance of the 607 vs 587 B.C.E. dates. As long as she has a pseudo-Scholar who can reinforce in her mind that 607 is correct, she is happy.
The elder who we use to study with however, understands the significance of it. The last time he and I talked on the subject he told me that if 607 was wrong then the impact of it would be significant. I explained to him how the Bible spoke of servitude for 70 years and not desolation for the entire time and said that I would get back with him with more info. I'm torn though because if he is indeed sincere and what I tell him wakes him up, well, he has spent 50 years believing in the truth. I'm not sure what the phsycological impact of it will be on him.
