I think they had to do that because no one except another JW knows what the heck "New World Translation of the Holy Bible" is. And these days, "New World" has sinister connotations so it's probably best to make it look vanilla-like so everybody knows what it is.

Yeah, they say "you can use any bible you want ..." UNTIL you become a JW and you GOTTA use THEIR so-called bible.

In case you are not aware ... many get the New World Translation bound together with the Reasoning book by book binding companies, it requires a new cover, this isn't a deception, it is quite common. Most of the 20 pioneers in my hall have a Bible like that.
In fairness, it is a translation of "The Holy Bible", as far as I know, there is not one translation that is the "Holy Bible Translation".

Anyone else have a ninja JW bible with a Reasoning Book in the back?
I thought it funny that they would never notice me turn to the last page of the Reasoning Book when I'd get a live one at the door. (Last page is the list on "Scriptures often misapplied.");
I really liked the door to door crap when I believed it.

Is it your opinion that the photographer took the photograph, and this particular JW just happened to have one of these custom Bibles?
