Ug, time for the family to call again and 'remind' us when the memorial is. Like I'd want to go ....

What???? Fred agreed with a post!!!

The Memorial means nothing to me. Just another sensless ritual, that has totally lost its meaning through the centuries. Any bum from off the street is welcome to attend.........I doubt Jesus had that in mind.

The last one I went to was in 1997, and I was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I would have to say it was different than the ones here. Lots of Europeans were there, who were temporary workers.......but lots of Malays and Indians. None of the men wore suit coats, and the speaker put one on as he walked to the front. I got out of there really fast, but they were hot on my heels, wanting to pick me up for service. I declined. It was a business trip, and my time was all taken.

I'd really like to go to a congregation that didn't know me and drink up. Damn that sounds like fun!

I shall never forget how as a little boy I was so totally baffled: my parents were helping cleaning up the hall after the memorial, so we children had to wait. I saw an elder pour all the wine into a bucket used for cleaning, tipping in the matzes, carry the whole thing to the mens room, and flush it. He left the door open, so I could watch it all from point blank. In all memorials I've sat through since I couldn't stop wondering how they would dispose of it this year.

rhett: Go to the Episcopal Church. If too much communion wine is prepared, it has to be consumed after the service. Usually the ladies on the altar guild get chosen to do the consuming. I used to love the altar guild!

Mulan: I see Fred changing. He's quite different on this forum than he was on H2O. His progress out of the org is slow because he's a bit stubborn, but he knows in his heart of hearts that he feels much more at home and accepted here than at the KH.

    Fred,
You agreed with me, because I said "a couple thousands JWs"...
You will now tell me that he came to save 144,000 and not just 2,000, right ?
Or that, Yes, He came to save all mankind, but only 144.000 will be with Him in "Heaven"...
Or that, Yes, He died for all mankind, but only a few millions of "all mankind" will be worth saving, only the ones who follow the rules and regulations of the Watch Tower Society...
Right ? The ones who distribute their books and magazines...
    It's so sad it's funny !
