YOUNG PEOPLE — STRENGTHEN YOUR DESIRE TO SERVE JEHOVAH
“Remember, now, your Grand Creator in the days of your young manhood.” — Eccl. 12:1.
OPENING COMMENTS
Where’s Jesus? If these “young people” are to be considered Christians, where is their relationship with him? What invitation was extended to children in the Christian congregation? How does Christ express his concern to children in the Christian congregation? The WTS has baptized 6-year-old children; all people baptized in the first century had holy spirit tell their spirit that they were anointed as kings and priests….6-year-old kings and priests?
1. What invitation was extended to children in Israel?
SOME 3,500 years ago, Jehovah’s prophet Moses commanded the priests and the older men of Israel: “Congregate the people, the men and the women and the little ones . . . , in order that they may listen and in order that they may learn, as they must fear Jehovah your God and take care to carry out all the words of this law.” (Deut. 31:12) Note who were instructed to attend gatherings for worship: men, women, and little ones. Yes, even young ones were among those who were told to listen, learn, and follow Jehovah’s direction.
COMMENTS
OT—Moses
So did the Israelites or Jesus attend 5 meetings weekly?
Were there synagogues in Moses time—when did synagogues come into being and when?
All they attended were 3 festivals a year.
*** Insight Volume 2 it-2 p. 1050 Synagogue ***
It is not known just when synagogues were instituted, but it seems to have been during the 70-year Babylonian exile when there was no temple in existence, or shortly following the return from exile, after Ezra the priest had so strongly stressed the need for knowledge of the Law.
COMMENTS
Did you know that women were not REQUIRED to attend these festivals and since they cared for the children, the children were not REQUIRED to attend?
*** Insight Volume 1 it-1 p. 1054 Headship ***
Under the Law covenant the preferred position of the male was emphasized. Only the males were required by command to assemble for the three festivals of Jehovah at the place that God chose, although women also attended. (De 16:16)
(Deuteronomy 16:16) “Three times in the year every male of yours should appear before Jehovah your God in the place that he will choose: in the festival of the unfermented cakes and in the festival of weeks and in the festival of booths, and none should appear before Jehovah empty-handed.
COMMENTS
Since 1914, who does the WTS consider directing things on earth….God or Jesus? In an article specifically about Jesus they seem to get the point but when the focus is on God:
***w09 7/15 p. 4 par. 8 Finding Treasures “Carefully Concealed in Him” ***
Rather, it simply means that to find the treasures, we must put forth strenuous effort, and our attention must be directed to Jesus Christ. This is in harmony with what Jesus said about himself: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) Yes, to find the knowledge of God, we must avail ourselves of the help and direction that Jesus provides.
2. How did Jehovah express his concern for youths in the early Christian congregation?
2 In the first century, Jehovah continued to express his concern for godly youths. For example, he inspired the apostle Paul to include in some of the letters that he sent to the congregations instructions specifically directed to young people. (Read Ephesians 6:1; Colossians 3:20.) Young Christians who applied such counsel progressed in their appreciation for their loving heavenly Father and received his blessing.
COMMENTS
Where is Jesus’ direction here? Where is Jesus…”young Christians” but no mention of Christ…and then no mention that according to the WTS and jws, only jws are “true” Christians? Where is their appreciation for Jesus? Were the “young people” six year olds, or ten year olds, even Jesus did not get baptized until he was 30 (I wonder how many young jws know that?).
***w96 2/1 p. 32 Irina’s Favorite Songbook ***
NOT long ago, Irina, a nine-year-old girl from Sofia, Bulgaria, was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

A 14-year-old boy in Japan dedicated himself to Jehovah and symbolized this dedication by water baptism.
***w95 5/1 p. 27 Young Ones Declare the Good News in Africa ***
In the meantime, 11-year-old Priya continued to make progress and decided to symbolize her dedication to Jehovah God by water baptism at a district convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
***w92 10/1 p. 22 ‘Should I Get Baptized?’ ***
Ayumi got baptized when she was ten years old. She wanted to serve Jehovah because she really came to love him. Now she is 13 and just had the experience of seeing her Bible student, who has also come to love Jehovah, get baptized at the age of 12. Ayumi’s younger brother Hikaru was also baptized at the age of ten.
***w88 1/15 p. 28 A C onvention That Increased Our Trust in Jehovah ***
Among those getting baptized were an 8-year-old girl who conducts two Bible studies with schoolmates, a 79-year-old man, and a 44-year-old quadriplegic.
***w88 3/15 pp. 14-15 par. 21 Trust in Jehovah Leads to Dedication and Baptism ***
But it seems that some among Jehovah’s people have gone to the other extreme. Many Christian parents let their children wait until they are in their late teens before broaching the subject of baptism. Time and again, we hear of youngsters making a valid dedication solely on their own initiative. For example, the preteen son of an elder sincerely wanted to get baptized. So his father had three other elders discuss with the youngster the questions designed for those contemplating baptism. Their conclusion was that, though quite young, he qualified to be baptized as an ordained minister of Jehovah God. Why, attending the Pioneer Service School in the Bahamas recently was a ten-year-old baptized girl, the daughter of two full-time ministers!
***w75 3/15 p. 182 par. 22 “Working Night and Day” to Make Disciples ***
During the first year, our seven-year-old son became a publisher, and at nine he was baptized.
***w57 10/15 p. 618 High Lights of 1957 District Assemblies ***
It is known that Jehovah’s witnesses do not believe in infant baptism, it being without Scriptural support. But does an eight-year-old girl understand enough to be baptized? A newspaper reporter doubted it until he questioned the lass, who ably answered all his questions, and that directly from her Bible.
3. How do young people today demonstrate their desire to serve God?
3 Are young ones today invited to congregate in order to worship Jehovah? Yes! It is, therefore, a source of joy for all of God’s people to observe that so many young servants of God around the world take to heart Paul’s exhortation: “Let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near.” (Heb. 10:24, 25) Further, many children share with their parents in preaching the good news of God’s Kingdom. (Matt. 24:14) And as an expression of their heartfelt love for Jehovah, many thousands of young people every year present themselves for baptism and enjoy the blessings that result from being a disciple of Christ. — Matt. 16:24; Mark 10:29, 30.

Young ones – only jws
God’s people – only jws
Young servants of God – only jws
How many meetings did the 1 st century Christians attend? Five….where is that in the Bible? How many meetings did WT members attend before 1914, or after?
Were there public talks every Sunday—if so, starting when?
Were there WT studies or did they study the Studies in the Scriptures? When were study articles added and questions to the WT?
When did the school start—around 1943?
What about the service meeting?
What is the “good news” according to the suggested presentations in the KM? Notice how “Jehovah” is left out of the introductions, as is “kingdom” and “Jesus.” Out of 48 a year perhaps 1 or 2 mention Jesus.
Disciple of Christ but witness of Jehovah (see Acts 1:8; there is no such phrase in the NT, only witness of Jesus).
Accept the Invitation — Now
4. When can youths accept God’s invitation to serve him?
4 Ecclesiastes 12:1 states: “Remember, now, your Grand Creator in the days of your young manhood.” How old do you young ones need to be in order to accept that warm invitation to worship and serve Jehovah? No age is specified in the Scriptures. Therefore, do not hold back, thinking that you are too young to listen to Jehovah and to serve him. No matter how old you are, you are encouraged to respond without delay.
COMMENTS
OT—Ecclesiastes, are there not such scriptures for young people in the NT?
Where are women in this picture?
No invitation from Jesus?
Do not hold back, thinking you are too young—so no infant baptism but seven year olds (and in Chicago a few years ago—a 6-year-old girl was baptized).
When is a jw child too old to be covered by the “family merit” doctrine (they are protected by their parents’ status with God)? 6?????!!!! Should/will parents push their children into baptism because Armageddon is near to protect them from destruction. At what age is a child “intelligent enough to make a personal decision” regarding baptism?
***w87 4/15 pp. 12-13 par. 12 Gaining Peace With God Through Dedication and Baptism ***
Should even youths consider baptism? Well, recall that Jehovah told the six armed men in the vision: “Old man, young man and virgin and little child and women you should kill off—to a ruination. But to any man upon whom there is the mark do not go near.” (Ezekiel 9:6) Of course, children too young to make a dedication would be protected by a parent’s “mark” if that parent is striving to bring the children up to love Jehovah and if they are obediently responding. (1 Corinthians 7:14) Yet, if a child is intelligent enough to make a personal decision and has reached the point where he “knows how to do what is right,” do not presume that he will continue indefinitely under the merit of his parent’s “mark.”—James 4:17.
5. How can parents help their children to make spiritual advancement?
5 Many of you are helped to make spiritual advancement by one or both of your parents. In this way, you are like Timothy of Bible times. When he was just an infant, he was taught the holy writings by his mother, Eunice, and his grandmother Lois. (2 Tim. 3:14, 15) Likely, your parents are training you in a similar way by studying the Bible with you, praying with you, taking you to congregation meetings and larger assemblies of God’s people, and sharing with you in the field ministry. Really, teaching you God’s ways is a highly important responsibility that your parents received from Jehovah himself. Do you appreciate their love and concern for you? — Prov. 23:22.
COMMENTS
Helped by parents—how many parents had regular, “bible” studies on a weekly basis with their children? As someone brought up in the WTS, I can say hardly ever in my case, and hardly ever in the case of my contemporaries. The brother who handled the stats on such studies in the congregation said few if any, including himself.
Do children see their own parents study the WT material, participate at the meetings????
How many of us saw our parents pray or even teach us how to pray without rote phrases?
God’s people = only jws
6. (a) According to Psalm 110:3, what form of worship is pleasing to Jehovah? (b) What will we now consider?
6 Still, as you young ones grow older, Jehovah wants you to “prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God,” just as Timothy did. (Rom. 12:2) If you do that, you will share in congregation activities, not because your parents want you to, but because you want to do God’s will. If you serve Jehovah with a willing spirit, it will please him. (Ps. 110:3) How, then, can you demonstrate that you want to strengthen your desire to listen to Jehovah and to follow his direction? We will consider three important ways in which you can do so. They center on study, prayer, and conduct. Let us examine these one at a time.
COMMENTS
Are any jws allowed to “prove” to themselves “the good and acceptable and perfect will of God”? Or must it be perfectly aligned with WT doctrine and policy?
Without the carrot of Everlasting Life, how many adult jws share because they really want to?
Serve God or the WTS?
Listen to God or the WTS?
Know Jehovah as a Person
7. How did Jesus set an example as a student of the Scriptures, and what helped him to do so?
7 The first way in which you demonstrate that you want to deepen your desire to serve Jehovah is by daily Bible reading. You can satisfy your spiritual need and acquire precious Bible knowledge by regularly reading God’s Word. (Matt. 5:3) Jesus set the example. On one occasion when he was 12 years old, he was found by his parents in the temple, “sitting in the midst of the teachers and listening to them and questioning them.” (Luke 2:44-46) As a child, Jesus had already developed a longing for and an understanding of the Scriptures. What helped him to do so? Undoubtedly his mother, Mary, and his adoptive father, Joseph, played an important role. They were servants of God who provided Jesus with divine instruction from his infancy. — Matt. 1:18-20; Luke 2:41, 51.
COMMENTS
Are jws encouraged to know Jesus as a person? Where’s Jesus?
Daily Bible reading to jws means doing the daily text.
Jesus did not get baptized at 12, or 13, or 16, or 21 but 30…why 30? Jesus wasn’t considered full-grown until he was 30 per the WTS. But Jesus was from the tribe of Judah not Levi.
***w76 4/15 p. 237 par. 20 Who Is Jesus Christ so that We All Need Him? ***
Jesus Christ proved to be the needed Son of God. When he became full-grown at the age of thirty years, he got baptized in water by John the Baptist, the son of a Jewish priest named Zechariah.
***w54 11/1 p. 649 Willing Slaves of Jehovah ***
Jesus took the same course. When he had reached thirty years of age, the age of manhood under God’s law for Levitical temple service, he faced the decision: What would he do with the rest of his life? Would he remain a carpenter, or would he perform what he knew to be his Father’s will?
***w54 3/1 p. 136 The Meaning of Baptism Today ***
In keeping with God’s law for the Levitical temple service, Jesus, at the age of thirty, shortly after he had been baptized, commenced to preach. (Num. 4:2, 3; Luke 3:23)
8. (a) When should parents begin to inculcate love for God’s Word in their children? (b) Relate an experience that confirms the value of training children from their infancy.
8 Likewise, God-fearing parents today recognize the value of inculcating in their children’s hearts a longing for Bible truth right from the start. (Deut. 6:6-9) That is what Rubi, a Christian sister, did soon after the birth of her first son, Joseph. Each day, she read to him from My Book of Bible Stories. As he grew older, she helped him to memorize various scriptures. Did Joseph benefit from such training? Soon after learning to talk, he could relate many Bible stories in his own words. And when he was five years old, he gave his first talk in the Theocratic Ministry School.
COMMENTS
What does the WTS mean by God-fearing?
***w08 12/1 p. 20 Early Christians in the Greek World ***
Some Gentiles progressed to the point of embracing Judaism, accepting circumcision, and becoming proselytes. Others embraced certain aspects of Judaism but held back from conversion. These were often referred to in Greek literature as “God-fearers.” Cornelius is called “a devout man and one fearing God.”
-----------------------------
Another female jw experience (where are the men?). (Christian sister = only jws)
I knew a young boy who was read to, memorized scriptures, could relate bible stories in his own words, and gave his first talk in the TMS at 5 (is being able to read a requirement to be in the TMS?). Where is he today….never got baptized…left the family home at 18, never attends the memorial. I wonder where this boy is today. Only one year later, he could have been baptized.
***km 9/95 p. 7 par. 3 What Goals Have You Set for Your Children? ***
When they are able to read, enrollment in the Theocratic Ministry School can accelerate their spiritual progress.
9. Why is reading the Bible and meditating on what you read important?
9 To further your spiritual advancement, you young ones should make daily Bible reading a custom that you keep throughout your teenage years and on into adulthood. (Ps. 71:17) Why will Bible reading help you to make progress? Note what Jesus said in a prayer to his Father: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God.” (John 17:3) Indeed, as you take in more knowledge of Jehovah, you will ever more clearly see him as a real Person and deepen your love for him. (Heb. 11:27) Therefore, each time you read a portion of the Bible, use that opportunity to learn more about Jehovah. Ask yourself: ‘What does this account teach me about Jehovah as a Person? How does this Bible passage show God’s love and concern for me?’ Taking time to meditate on such questions will help you to learn how Jehovah thinks and feels and what he requires of you. (Read Proverbs 2:1-5.) Like young Timothy, you will be “persuaded to believe” what you learn from the Scriptures, and you will be moved to worship Jehovah with a willing heart. — 2 Tim. 3:14.
COMMENTS
Daily Bible reading does not = reading the day’s text
Do youngsters see their parents and elders reading the Bible?
Do they see Jesus as a real Person? Where is Jesus in this article? Ask what does this teach me about Jesus?....Jesus’ love and concern for me?
How God thinks or what the WTS tells you God thinks?
NT=Timothy yet not a mention of Christ…did Timothy become a Christian or a jw when he was baptized?
How Prayer Deepens Your Love for Jehovah
10, 11. How does prayer help you to strengthen your desire to serve God?
10 The second way in which you can strengthen your desire to serve Jehovah wholeheartedly is by means of your prayers. At Psalm 65:2, we read: “O Hearer of prayer, even to you people of all flesh will come.” Even during the time that Israel was God’s covenant people, foreigners who came to Jehovah’s temple could approach him in prayer. (1 Ki. 8:41, 42) God is not partial. Those who observe his commandments have the assurance that he will listen to them. (Prov. 15:8) Surely, “people of all flesh” include you young ones.
COMMENTS
Prayers—what about 1 Timothy 2:5? Can nonanointed jws pray through Jesus if he is not their mediator? Where is Jesus’ part in prayer mentioned here? Notice that in WTS publications that rarely is the prayer part of this scripture mentioned. Here is one of only 3.
The “foreigners” are uncircumcised yet they are compared the same as the 11 nonpriestly tribes (actually all but the descendants of Aaron were not priests in the tribe of Levi).
***w75 7/1 p. 402 par. 8 Coming to the Hearer of Prayer ***
To communicate readily with the heavenly Father, one must accept Christ Jesus as Lord. Peace with God can come only through the appointed way, the ransom provision by the Lord Jesus. (Matt. 20:28; 1 Tim. 2:5, 6) He is the provision for approach to God in prayer and reconciliation with him. Jesus rightly declared: “No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) He is the “helper” that plays a vital role in our having access to the Hearer of prayer. (1 John 2:1, 2) The way, therefore, to come to God is on the basis of Christ’s official services as high priest as well as the ransom he provided for mankind. Our asking in his name and coming to the Father is, therefore, in recognition of his office as God’s “Chief Agent of life.” No other intermediary is necessary in addressing our prayers to God.—Acts 3:15; John 14:13, 14; Heb. 10:19-22.
11 You know that the basis of any real friendship is good communication. Likely, you enjoy sharing your thoughts, concerns, and feelings with a close friend. Similarly, by offering heartfelt prayers, you communicate with your Grand Creator. (Phil. 4:6, 7) Speak to Jehovah as if you were pouring out your heart to a loving parent or to a close friend. In fact, there is a strong link between how you pray and how you feel about Jehovah. You will notice that the stronger your friendship with Jehovah becomes, the more meaningful your prayers will be.
COMMENTS
So how many “real” friends do jws have at the KM? How often to they talk to the 75 to 100 people who come three times a week? How many talk just to the family and close friends and never talk to others for weeks, months on end?
So if they don’t communicate with people they see, how often will they talk to people they do not ever see?
How many meaningful prayers are heard at the KM, just rote phrases, thought up only 60 seconds before the meeting starts; or the 15 minute ones that close out a convention, where they review the convention for God?
12. (a) Why do meaningful prayers involve more than words? (b) What will help you to come to realize that Jehovah is near to you?
12 Keep in mind, though, that a meaningful prayer involves more than words. It includes your innermost feelings. In your prayers, convey your warm love, deep respect, and full reliance on Jehovah. As you discern how Jehovah responds to your prayers, you will personally come to realize as never before that “Jehovah is near to all those calling upon him.” (Ps. 145:18) Yes, Jehovah will draw close to you, strengthening you to oppose the Devil and to make the right choices in life. — Read James 4:7, 8.
COMMENTS
If jws don’t show warm love, deep respect to the jws they see each week, how can they do the same with God?
Does God hear nonjw prayers? Did he hear Cornelius’ prayers? Yes…was he a Christian at the time…No.
How do you know that God heard and responded to that prayer? Should we expect a similar response per the WTS?
13. (a) How did friendship with God help one sister? (b) How does friendship with God help you to deal with peer pressure?
13 Consider how Cherie gained strength from having a close relationship with Jehovah. In high school, she won awards because she did well academically and excelled in sports. When she finished school, she was offered a scholarship that would enable her to pursue higher education. “The offer was tempting,” says Cherie, “and coaches and fellow students put a lot of pressure on me to accept it.” She realized, though, that pursuing further education would require her to devote most of her time to studying and preparing for sporting events — with little time left for serving Jehovah. What did Cherie do? She says, “After praying to Jehovah, I declined the scholarship and began serving as a regular pioneer.” In the meantime, she has been pioneering for five years. “I don’t have any regrets,” she says. “Knowing that I made a decision that pleases Jehovah makes me happy. Really, if you put God’s Kingdom first, all other things will be added to you.” — Matt. 6:33.
COMMENTS
Another female experience…are the men giving in?
How could she excel in sports? Was she doing more than attending gym class or was she competing and training at high school? She must have been competing if she won awards. If so, how had that affected her time “for serving” God? What kind of academic classes did she take…did they prepare her to get a decent paying job so she could support herself? Why wouldn’t she have been “pressured” since her actions in high school seemed to be a predictor of that she wanted to go on in her education and sports?
Although regular pioneering for 5 years, was she married yet, if so, did she support herself or did her husband, did she have children, or were her plans to quit after marriage and/or children?
Good Conduct Reveals That You Are “Clean in Heart”
14. Why is your good conduct important in Jehovah’s eyes?
14 The third way you can demonstrate that you are serving Jehovah with a willing heart is by your conduct. Jehovah blesses youths who remain morally clean. (Read Psalm 24:3-5.) Young Samuel refused to imitate the immoral conduct of the sons of High Priest Eli. Samuel’s fine conduct did not go unnoticed. The Bible record states: “All the while the boy Samuel was growing bigger and more likable both from Jehovah’s standpoint and from that of men.” — 1 Sam. 2:26
COMMENTS
OT—Samuel
Wasn’t Samuel only 5 when the issue of Eli’s immoral sons having sex with women; how could he have imitated them?
***w05 3/15 p. 21 Highlights From the Book of First Samuel ***
When Samuel is still of tender age, Jehovah speaks to him, pronouncing judgment against the house of Eli.
15. What are some reasons why you maintain good conduct?
15 We live in a world filled with people who are lovers of themselves, haughty, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, fierce, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God — to name some of the characteristics listed by Paul. (2 Tim. 3:1-5) So it can be a real challenge for you to maintain exemplary conduct despite being surrounded by this wicked environment. However, each time you do what is right and refuse to share in ungodly conduct, you prove that you are on Jehovah’s side of the issue of universal sovereignty. (Job 2:3, 4) You also have the satisfaction of knowing that you are responding to Jehovah’s warm appeal: “Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.” (Prov. 27:11) Moreover, knowing that you have Jehovah’s approval will strengthen you in your desire to serve him.
COMMENTS
The WTS demonizes every non-jw = “world filled with people who are lovers of themselves…puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God” calling it a “wicked environment” full of “ungodly conduct.”
When I went to high school about three-fourths of the jws I went to school with did many things that would have gotten them in trouble at the KH if anyone had known about it. Ten years later it was the same with my siblings and 10 years after that. What was your experience?
No need to make Christ’s hear rejoice?
16. How did one sister make Jehovah’s heart rejoice?
16 As a teenager, a Christian sister named Carol stuck to Bible principles while she attended school, and her good conduct was noticed. What happened? Carol faced ridicule from her classmates because her Bible-trained conscience would not allow her to share in holiday celebrations and patriotic ceremonies. On those occasions, she at times had the opportunity to explain her beliefs to others. Many years later, Carol received a card from a former classmate, who wrote: “I have always hoped to contact you and to thank you. Your good conduct and example as a Christian youth, along with the courageous stand you took regarding holidays, did not go unnoticed. You were my first contact with Jehovah’s Witnesses.” Carol’s example had left such a deep impression that her classmate had later begun to study the Bible. She wrote in her card to Carol that she had been a baptized Witness for over 40 years! Like Carol, you young ones today who courageously stick to Bible principles may motivate honesthearted individuals to get to know Jehovah.
COMMENTS
Another female experience = couldn’t they have made up a male one?
Christian sister = only jw
Why did it take this schoolmate 40 years to acknowledge this woman’s good conduct. It’s not as if she started studying last year.
What does this woman remember as being noteworthy about Carol’s conduct, that she did not celebrate Christmas or salute the flag!!! Yes, that what Jesus said his followers would be known for?! Or was it showing love?
Young Ones Praising Jehovah
17, 18. (a) How do you feel about the young ones in your congregation? (b) What future awaits God-fearing youths?
17 All of us in Jehovah’s worldwide organization are thrilled to see the many thousands of zealous young ones who are sharing in true worship! These youths strengthen their desire to worship Jehovah by daily Bible reading, by praying, and by conducting themselves in harmony with God’s will. Such exemplary youths are a source of refreshment to their parents and to all of Jehovah’s people. — Prov. 23:24, 25.
COMMENTS
Don’t let the WTS fool you, the words “organization” or “governing body” never occur in the Bible. Note this argument regarding the word “trinity” that the WTS uses.
True worship = only jws
God’s will as they understand it from the Bible or God’s will as the WTS explains it?
***w84 8/15 p. 27 One God in Three? ***
In its article “Trinity,” a Protestant work (TheIllustratedBibleDictionary) states: “The word Trinity is not found in the Bible . . . It did not find a place formally in the theology of the church till the 4th century . . . Although Scripture does not give us a formulated doctrine of the Trinity, it contains all the elements out of which theology has constructed the doctrine.”
18 In the future, faithful young people will be counted among those who will survive into God’s promised new world. (Rev. 7:9, 14) There, they will experience untold blessings as they continue to grow in appreciation for Jehovah, and they will be able to praise him to time indefinite. — Ps. 148:12, 13.
COMMENTS
Young people = only jws = survive into God’s promised new world
All 7 billion nonjws, men, women, children and babies will be destroyed, killed for eternity, no hope of a resurrection.
Can You Explain?
• How can young people share in true worship today?
• For you to benefit from Bible reading, why is meditation essential?
• How does prayer help you to draw close to Jehovah?
• What is accomplished by a Christian’s good conduct?
CONCLUDING COMMENTS
I wonder how much of this will “persuade” young jws? In the congregations in my area, 9 out of 10 leave. The one that stays is usually a female who regular pioneers. Maybe one tries coming back after marrying a nonjw and having a child…only to leave again after a year.
I was a “young one” during the years before 1975. I was thinking back about how many of them married, 75% are divorced now. Less than one third are still attending somewhat. This has had an impact on the number of ministerial servants in the congregations, 2 or 3 to 5 or 6 elders, so the elders have to do more menial work (or worse yet sisters have to do it behind the scenes, fronted by their husbands).
Next week, HOLY SPIRIT’S ROLE IN THE OUTWORKING OF JEHOVAH’S PURPOSE. Paragraphs 13 and 14 will be another attempt to explain the new understanding of “generation.”
