What a wild and lonely place, Loz!
I can just imagine how seamen must have felt when they caught sight of its lights!

Hey, Syl:
My first recollection of a lighthouse in film was in the SF/horror flick: The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. I had to get permission from my parents to see it as I was at my cousin's house [I was 7 or 8 years old]. Does Minimus care?
The dinosaur ate the lighthouse, or the terrified attendant, watching, helpless, all alone in the world ...
Oh, I like lighthouses as I grew up on the sea and particularly loved the forlorn wail of the foghorn, heard but unseen in an inpenetrable fog.

Lovely prose!
I used to read about stuff like that and could actually feel the mist and hear the pounding surf ...

Can you imagine a more lonely existence than that of a lighthouse keeper?
I don't know what it is about lighthouses. But I never have a good feeling when I see them. I can't describe what I feel, but it is a definite uneasiness.

Uh huh.
A cemetery caretaker.

People regularly visit cemetaries. Most caretakers I know had other employment.
How about those who work at night?
Whooooooooo!
