I am just hoping that someday soon, in a racially free America, we will see the N.A.A.W.P. {National Association for Advancement of White People} and the United Caucasian College Fund [because a mind is a terrible thing to waste] come to full fruition.
I sure hope you're joking Jeff
Sarcastic I'm sure, but an excellent point. Why do we need special interest groups that focus on one race/color? While some groups may have served well in the past, in order achieve full equality there comes a time when those groups would have to cease to exist. As long as those groups continue to push an agenda of elevating one race over another, you will have racism.
While we're not perfectly harmonious when it comes to race relations, we have gotten better and we continue to do better and work better together.
Maybe it's time for the NAACP to become the NAAMP - National Association for Advancement of Minority People. Maybe it's time for the United Negro College Fund to become the United Underprivileged College Fund.
Let's not focus on elevating one race, let's focus on helping the underprivileged, no matter their race or color.
Of course that'll never happen because too many people have gained too much power, prestige and money by keeping these groups in business. Too many of them look for things to bitch about so as to justify having to keep their doors open and to keep their members/supporters riled up, which flies in the face of the very reason these groups were created in the first place... to help bring equality...not to alienate people.
