Why Trust the Bible?

We trust the bible for what it is, not for what it isn't.
And inspired by God does NOT equal inerrant, the bible has MUCH that has little to do with God, it is the history of a people, stories and parables to help people understand life nd what was happening in the ancient world, it states the views and hopes of the writers and yes, it even shows the good, the bad and the ugly of life in those times.
Is it error proof? NO, but then again that depends on WHAT you think you are reading doesn't it?

The preservation of scripture is a biblical doctrine. Picking and choosing dooctrine is a slippery slope.

Why, based on clear and logical thinking and reasoning, should one trust the Bible as the inspired and inerrant Word of God?
I would say the only people who still cling to that old chestnut are people who have little to no knowledge of the bible - that is, they don't understand how the bible got from it's writers to us. They may have some fuzzy idea that God dictated it to his earthly secretaries via the ol' Holy Spirit....hopefully they don't think it plopped out of the sky one day...but they really have no education on the journey through self-appointed ratifying agencies that the bible took, or they don't understand why that matters.

I trust that the Bible contains God's message to humanity.

superpunk,
I've personally been researching this topic for years. I put my findings into a website : www.wordfamine.com
It is true that JW's are clueless as to how their bible got to them. But, this is not the case with many Christians.

When it comes to the Christian faith, the Bible is an inerrant guide.
The Bible is inspired by God, not dictated by God...here there is a subtle difference.
If it were not for the Catholic Church, there would be no Bible for Christians.

Which is why the Witness stance of inerrancy, while at the same time demonizing the Catholic Church, is completely hypocritical and absurd. Obviously motivated by jealousy.
