I think I remember a scene in which one of the troupe is shot in the chest with an arrow. He pulls out the arrow, unrolls an attatched parchment and announces "Message for you sir!" falling over dead. Now that's loyalty!
Nothing beats "only a flesh wound" IMHO. I use it all the time. Even when others don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about. Kinda like the Andy Kaufman take on humor- who cares if noone else gets the joke, as long as you think it's funny.
